And he is playing for a team likely to be in the CL semi's this season. Doubt he is on the verge of switching to a side that may be without European football at all next season. We have to look elsewhere, at up and coming talent or in a smaller league than the German.

I'm convinced that skrtel will go and will be replaced by Ashley Williams.

Surely Coates and the likes of Danny Wilson will be moved on

I reckon we will look to use one of Kelly/wisdom as the 4th/cover centre back.

Which means IMO we need to sign another top centre back to start with agger and have Williams and Kelly/wisdom as cover

However I do have concerns with the club, and I don't think we have that much money....I have a slight worry that Rodgers knows this, and knows that at best he can sell skrtel for £10m and get Williams for say £8m, netting him £2m profit, and then he is playing carra as much as possible to convince him to stay on for another year...

With imo, other areas of the squad need addressing as well, I can't see us splashing the cash on two top centre halves.

Our net spend this season was 40 million, last season it was 35 million. This summer we'll also have an extra 30 million from the new TV deal, we should have plenty to spend this summer. Whether it's spent correctly or not is the real issue.

A top centre mid
good left back to challenge/enrique

that's just at a minimum with no major player going and in that I am hoping that Borini turns up and produces something next season.

in an ideal world, i'd want the players i've mentioned above to stay, add the three positions already mentioned and then i reckon we could also do with

backup GK (better than Jones)
another good all rounder up front - someone strong, can challenge in the air and can poach goals.

At the moment we are a bang average side imo - so those 3 to 5 players i feel we need, need to be great signings for us to really improve....

so we either need a **** load of cash (more than £30 odd million) or one hell of a scouting team with a bit of luck who can unearth 2 or 3 gems


as i say, and as you have pointed out - it's how we spend what we have which is what really concerns me.

for me it's far more likely that our back line options next season would be

rough net cost of zero (swapping williams/skrtel for similar fees)

than

--------------------------------------reina/better backup------------------------

johnson/kelly----------top centre half/williams-------agger/wisdom----good lb/enrique

rough net cost of £25m (swapping williams/skrtel for similar fees, £25m spent on top centre half, left back and a decent back up GK)


I know out of the two which i'd prefer

but then add that we defo need a top hard centre mid that'll cost about £15m if we scout well plus i'm not convinced with borini and feel we could do with signing a good all round forward again prob at cost of £15m

i'd say we need to spend about £50m to £60m on 3 first teamers and 2 good squad players

it's doable, i'm not convinced that we will do it tho

maybe if we get £35m back for carroll we might have a chance
