It would explain his weird statement about maybe not qualifying for the EL.

I would even say that if it is our starting XI and we drop points then Rodgers should be sacked after this season.

Other managers have of course played bench players but they had excuses like semifinals or finals in cups. Rodgers have no excuses at all.

I doubt that it will be the starting XI. Rodgers isn't that stupid.

You would sack a manager on the basis of one starting XI that you disagreed with?

Would that starting XI give the players the best chance to win the game?

Rodgers played Allen when he clearly wasn't fit to play and he played a sick Downing when he had other options.

He can't blame it on tired players because we have not played that many games the last few weeks. It is just very weird decisions.

Which has been proved to be bollocks time and time again.

Having lost their past seven Premier League matches, equalling a club record, Reading are likely to be low on confidence. Nigel Adkins will have to be at his inspirational best but they still have a slim change of avoiding relegation and can take hope from Liverpool's inconsistent form. Brendan Rodgers's team have lost at Southampton and drawn with West Ham in their past three games. However, they should not be lacking for motivation given this is their final fixture before the 24th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. Sachin Nakrani

I'm not unhappy about Downing being there. I reckon we'll see Sturridge after half time too.

I'm tipping Suarez and Coutinho to get on the scoresheet today.
