What's to applaud about that

That was my first thought and I am weary of football matches being used, even hijacked. But when you consider our links there via the owners then it might be tangential but it's not totally irrelevant or gratuitous.

As for applause, silence may be more appropriate but (a) as mentioned, it wouldn't be observed and (b) we could see it as honouring the strength of Bostonians, etc.
