Why does he need a run of games? He is young, we are better off easing him in.

But he's not going to get a run of games here is he ? He can play either CM or AM, both those positions are taken by Gerrard and Coutinho, 2 players Shelvey isn't going to replace in the starting 11, we also have no Europa football next season which means even less opportunities for him.
Best to sell now for him and us I'd say.

Loan him for a year and then what ? When/If he comes back next Summer he'll still be sitting on the bench here because as I said Coutinho and Gerrard will still be nailed on starters.

The only way I can see Shelvey staying and contributing is if he takes up some kind of spiritual education to calm him the **** down.

If we could give him a zen like inner peace, it might stop him barrelling into stupid tackles, making rash decisions and charging round like every minute is the last minute of a cup tie and we're one down.

I feel sorry for his bird, she must take a pummeling with his vigorous, enthusiastic love making.

If he could sort out the mentalism, he could sit deeper. He hasn't got the pace or ability to play behind the striker or as an advanced midfielder. He also has several better players ahead of him in the squad.

If he could learn timing, calm down, relaaaaax and think about what he does, he could become a decent deep lying midfielder. Wish Gary McAllister was around to help him out.

With the comments about Shelvey I do think we need to improve in midfield. Gerrard is a year older again, Lucas will be pretty much back IMO so he's fine but we need better quality than Henderson/Allen/Shelvey.

I think Henderson has done enough and more than Shelvey and Allen so deserves a place in the squad. So it would be between Shelvey and Allen and I think Rodgers would probably stick to his guns with Allen. So just by process of elimination I'd look to improve on Shelvey, if its a loan I'd see if he could take over Allen and sell one of them next summer.

That would possibly be an entire back 4 and GK Are we that crazy? Just Agger left.

Cannot see GJ and Enrique leaving but Pepe, Skrtel and Coates are all certainly a possibility.

I’d like to see him give a consistent run of games, possibly with less pressure and another year to mature before writing him off.

If we bring another creative mid, Shelvey playing time will be limited even more and I personally would like to see him go on a loan to a low table PL team if that is feasible where he can get a chance to play more regularly.

Definitely too early to write him off.

I'd like Medel from Sevilla, he's got a terrible record over there for cards but there seems to be a kind of 'out to get him' feel over there.

So on what we have currently I'd guess we'd be looking to play something like this. I think we've done well so far this summer, 4 players early doors who might not be household names but have a style and a work ethic that seemingly fits into what BR is looking for. Real shame we didn't get Henrik Mkrtchyan in as well but I do fancy we'll still see a couple of genuine first team players arriving before the window closes regardless of what happens with Suarez.

I'd left Suarez out due to the ban & I can't see us only playing 2 in midfield.
