    Liverpool first team in 5 years

    I keep hearing about the amazing youth and U21 team we have so based on the best ones staying (and as I can't see into the future, no new recruits) this is what our squad could look like in 5 years time.

    I'm not so familiar with who is good defensively but the midfield and attacking roles look promising!

    ST
    * Sturridge (28)
    * Yesil (24)
    * Sinclair (22)
    * Borini (27)
    * Ngoo (25)

    MF
    * Texiera (23)
    * Pelosi (23)
    * Coady (25)
    * Ibe (22)
    * Sterling (23)
    * Suso (25)
    * Coutinho (25)
    * Henderson (27)
    * Allen (28)
    * Lucas (31)

    DF
    * McLaughlin (23)
    * Agger (33)
    * Kelly (28)
    * Wisdom (25)

    Good enough to win the league based on their predicted improvement?

        I doubt that that many players from the academy will make the step up AND hang around.

          McLaughlin, Ibe and maybe Sinclair or Yesil.

          I like Teixeira (he is 20 now) but for him to have a chance to make it he needs to go on a loan and go soon.

          The squad that you listed, unless we go and buy some quality players, imo will not be good enough to even challenge for a CL spot.

              You never know what will happen who will make it, who won't and who will leave for whatever reason. A similar thing a few years ago would probably have had Spearing, Darby and Pacheco as key players. Look at all the players that were highly rated here a few years ago that are struggling to make it in the lower leagues

              Also I would hope we would be making some signings in the next five years as well
              The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                  I was going to mix in some of the players we're being linked with too like ->

                  * Papadopoulos
                  * Chirivella
                  * Romero
                  * Eriksen
                  * Muriel

                    There is no way to tell as some players stagnate/ progress at different stages. For example teams like Nigeria often do very well at youth level because they have the physical edge, but this obviously has not carried through at senior level.

                    The fact that gerrard, on par with bobby charlton as the best ever English midfielder was not selected by England at earlier levels says it all. Now-a-days every young player seems to be labelled a young star but even if you standout at a level with boys all the same age, statistically it is only going to be harder when you play within a larger population of players over a period of 10-15 yrs.

                    I think suso, sterling, ibe, McLaughlin are the most promising but mentality is another variable that is so hard to predict but so crucial, e.g how well does a player take on advice and implement it. If you know Craig johnstons story then you realize that a hard work ethic can actually turn the most raw players into good ones.

                    All this being said the becks/Giggs generation at united and recently Barcelona have proved that if the players are good enough, many can make it. But its obviously statistically unlikely. Tis interesting to speculate tho.

                      A majority of those players won't be here in five years time. Go back to 2008 and see who's still here, and before then 2003. Pointless.

                        ****ing hell I should rename this to the dullard's thread.

                        Yet in other threads we all bitch about Suarez leaving even though its not official.

                              Certainly be interesting which of those players listed actually do make it with us.
