Our problem is not tactics. Its not Steve in the wrong position. It is not a lack of quality through out the team. (although that can always improve)
Look at Valencia under Benitez, look at Arsenal, look at Liverpool of old. There is one key thing missing from our play right now. The basics of football.
Now I have not played professional football but even I know that it is up to the players who don’t have the ball to run into space and make sure that the ball can be passed to them. You pass the ball to your team mate and if you are an attacking player you run into a more dangerous attacking position and make sure the man in possession can pass to you.
Look at Arsenal yesterday. Every time they brought the ball into the opposing half there where at least 3 teammates moving around them ready to receive the ball, and two defensive once to help out.
We on the other hand where sprouting roots half the time and the man in possession had a choice between a 30 meter pass to a striker with with a defender up his ass or back to his own defenders.
I know that Benitez is trying to get them to do this but why he is not successful I don’t know. And the fact that he is not successful worries me a lot.
