Thought Downing did quite well too, a mature performance showing why his experience could be useful this year.Originally posted by Daffy Duck View PostFT 4-0
Very positive by Coutinho, Agger, Henderson, Ibe, Sterling, Aspas, Johnson...
Pleased for Sterling too. Said a few weeks ago that he could be as good as any new signing this year and early signs are extremely positive. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

2 or 3 first team players added to the squad will make us an interesting prospect next season given how sharp the underlying squad is looking. With or without Suarez I have an inkling that we could be pushing for a top four position then depending on Spuds and the Arse we could be thereabouts.
The Mancs are in a spot of bother at the moment and with their 9 country sponsorthon they will be disjointed and perhaps not at the sharpness required to hit the road running.
Not to mention his Moysenness et al's influence on their playing style. Not looking that great thus far.
Also City might have a slowish start with Pelegrini coming in and changing stuff around. They will either gel quickly and form a formidable lead or take 3 - 4 games to break stride. Then they will be looking to regain the Title.
Chelsea will be interesting, will the Mourinho factor kick in immediately or will new cliques form with the old guard and the new Marquis.
The Arse are at a crossroads with the stadium all but funded and the new revenues coming in. They will spend big this window and depending on what Wenger brings in it could be interesting. Hopefully their rivalry with the Spuds and Europe might distract them sufficiently to allow us in.
Same with the Spuds, lots depends on whether they can keep hold of the chimp.
Outside challenges from either Swansea or the Bitters depending on their new intake.
All in all I see positive signs that we should hit the ground running.

For now I share your optimism but that could all change if we fail to win our first match.Originally posted by Frenchie View Post2 or 3 first team players added to the squad will make us an interesting prospect next season given how sharp the underlying squad is looking.
