Pre Season 2013

Things are looking up for us, I was trying to name the most exciting player for next season but there are too many for me. Our squad today

That makes it 20 players who can almost all vie for a starting spot next season. Adding to this are players like Ibe, Coady, Flanagan, Wisdom, Robinson, Suso and Sterling.

If we can add two quality players to this we'll have a good squad that should be able to handle the domestic competitions. This is the most exciting preseason for years.

But how are things looking regarding the homegrown factor though? We have "lost" three english players now. How many do we need?

Decent depth (would like more for LB and DM positions) but well short on quality as you said.

We need at least 2 more quality signings if we want to have any chances of targeting top 4.

If we get in a top centre midfielder I think we can challenge for fourth/fifth, but I think Rodgers is putting some solid foundations in place for the next two or three seasons though.

He said today that he is looking to bring at least 2 more players but I expect to see more than that.

Personally next season will either make him or break him if we are not competitive enough and I think he knows that.

Given our recent moves in terms of selling and buying we appear to be at break even point so we should still have budged funds set aside for this summer and can still sell few more players (e.g. Pepe, Skrtel, Coates, Spearing, Assaidi, Downing maybe etc.) to shape our squad even more.

Still definitely feels like there is more reason to be positive this pre-season than for several years. Bring it on!

I disagree. We would have been in with a solid shout for 4th place if it weren't for some silly mistakes.

I know all teams make them but there were few occasions where we were being dominated.

We are not as good as the teams who finished in the top 4 mate, sorry but it'd have been a major upset if we did.

Can't argue with that. I hope the 3 outfield players we've signed settle quickly & hit the ground running. The good start is of paramount importance for our belief.
