Reserves / Youth Team thread 2013/14

4 hopefuls sign pro - 15 get scholarships

Centre-back Lloyd Jones, winger Alex O'Hanlon, midfielder Daniel Trickett-Smith and goalkeeper Ryan Fulton are now on pro terms.

Meanwhile, the following players have been added to the list of Academy scholars: Jack Alexander, Tom Brewitt, Andrew Firth, Samuel Hart, Ryan Kent, William Marsh, (Seyi) Oluwaseyi Ojo, Kristof Polgar (subject to international clearance), David Roberts, Louis Robles, Jordan Rossiter, Jerome Sinclair, Matthew Virtue-Thick, Dahrius Waldron and Harry Wilson.

Lloyd Jones seems to be very highly rated. Never heard of Alex O'Hanlon to be honest.

Virtue-Thick - should look good on the back of a shirt

Did Alex O'Hanlon play much last year? Name doesn't sound familiar.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Apparently Adorjan is off for a trial at Groningen in Holland...

FC Groningen have announced that Liverpool youngster Krisztian Adorjan is to spend a week on trial with the Eredivisie club.

The Hungarian midfielder has been at Anfield since making the move from MTK Budapest in 2009 but has yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds.

He is still only 20 and is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future, having scored 12 goals in 31 games for Liverpool's Under 21 side last season.

Adorjan has now been given the opportunity to impress Groningen and will train with the Dutch club over the next few days.

It is not known whether Groningen, who came seventh in the Eredivisie last season, are interested in taking Adorjan on a loan deal or permanently.

He has John Terry/Phil Jones like facial expressions. It is for the best that he is "moved on"

Hmm, he's never gonna make it here but he's a good player and I think he'll become a decent player and have a good career.

Bit surprised at Adorjan. Thought he was highly thought of at the club and a lot of work seemed to go into his development and he even added goals to his game last year.

Reminds me a bit of the Silva transfer, I was surprised with the timing. Like Silva though, I always had my doubts with Adorjan and never expected him to make the breakthrough.

Might be for a loan. Whether we view him as someone who can do anything useful for our first team or not it maybe that first team appearances would give him more exposure as well as potentially improving him as a player.

Do you do trials for a loan? I just assumed it was a permanent transfer.
