Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

coming from you Nigel i genuinely will take that with a huge pinch of salt.

Do you realise how many people on this site have actually also said Borini is technically poor? The reason for that is because he is.

          Maybe. Or maybe this:

As i said to Nigey... i'm am far from being the only one who has mentioned Borini technique and composure. The reason for that is because it's true. But sure we'll have to agree to disagree.

He makes good runs no doubts and gets into some good positions to receive the ball.... but sure so does my cocker spaniel.

Pace, strength, technique and finishing are attributes that can be seen relatively easily in a player. It really boggles my mind sometimes how "taboo" it is to assess a player "early".

It's painfully obvious that in all of those categories, Aspas is average at best. It didn't take much to realize last pre-season that Borini isn't anything special either. It's just blatantly obvious, right in front of your eyes.

You want to wait six months in order to determine that neither player is going to be a big contributor for us, go ahead and "wait". I'll stick my neck out and say that this is my prediction. Meh.

It's soooo early in some of these guys LFC careers, they've been bought, shipped over, and then on to this tour, you could see in Aspas's bag when Enrique opened it for LFC tv, it was full to the top of LFC gear.

While i'm not really thinking players like Aspas and Alberto will be of the quality needed to improve us enough to get top 4, i'm hoping they will be cogs in a bigger machine this season, better than the less used cogs we had, and that we'll make some more 1st team ready sigings before the window closes, along with keeping Suarez.

However, if we lose Suarez, i'd expect four 1st team ready/quality signings.

Is that asking to much ?

I'm just saying that citing other non-experts as evidence is worthless. We can all be influenced by others and they could all be wrong.

Borini for me will never make it for a top club. As for Aspas early days .. hasn't looked great but hopefully he can prove to be a good squad player.

New signings need to improve the team. "Cogs" in a machine is a sweetener term for "mediocre players who might look good if the team is firing in all cylinders and carrying them".

What disappointed me in our summer dealings, is that we have spent over £20m on players who are not game changers. I'd rather sign no one and give a chance to a young player to develop than waste more money and wages on players who are just going to block their development.
