Disappointing to hear that's it's the current squad that are going to be playing in this match. Unusual for a testimonial, no? I was expecting quite a few players from the past to be playing.

I always thought testimonials are played at seasons end. This sounds more like a friendly & as such is an important hit out for our lads. Step up in class for the lads too.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.Comment

Testimonials are designed to reward players with ten years or more service at one club with a tax free send off. It's a valuable benefit for those in the lower leagues and it used to be a valuable benefit for those in the top flight until until they became multi millionaires.
