New season notes - please read

Just a couple of things before the season starts I wanted to make people aware of.

First, can I ask that all members please read and understand this, as it is quite serious. Any discussion or questions about that please reply in there only.

Second, several people have mentioned that they have been getting a bit sick of threads in the footy sections continually deviating away from their topics into pages of in-jokes, memes, banter and general drivel. While a more lax moderating approach has been taken during the summer, now the season is about to start and we'll actually have football to discuss again rather than how sulky Suarez looks while out shopping, it is time people made a concerted effort not to spam in threads or deliberately assist in deviating them from on-topic discussions.

This is not a question of the fun police having a crack down, every once in a while most of us get a laugh from a funny thread hijack, but when it is all the time and in every thread it is just, frankly, ****e which puts a lot of people off from posting and needs to stop. Please, it would be much better if this could be achieved through self-moderation rather than having to be imposed.

Lastly, on a similar note, and I know this one is a lot to ask, but can we also please try to put some of the superfan v moany git stuff aside too for a bit? There's been a bit of an increase in antagonistic posting going on of late; frankly nobody is a better or worse fan whether they are positive or negative about the team on an internet forum, as long as they are expressing themselves appropriately and trying to participate in proper debate. We don't all have to agree all the time, but ultimately we all want the same thing and it really doesn't hurt to remember that. As usual excessive abuse of fellow posters, or regarding players / members of staff at LFC for that matter will not be tolerated, but more generally... can't we all just try to get along?

Anyway, thanks for reading and lets hope we have a great season.

Haven't looked forward to a season so much since Rafa was in charge!

I'm confident most of the left field drivel will dry up once the season gets going and we have players to scape goat and opponents and referees give us cause to hate.

Hopefully yep, and that's why we'd not been too concerned before, but given a number of people had commented on it recently we thought a slight nudge in the right direction at this point wouldn't hurt

I always thought the thread hijacks and what not are part of this sites charm personally.

What if we had a site wide vote for if they stay or go?

If every wagon got hijacked pretty soon the merchants would go broke and there'd be nothing left to hijack.

Haha, no I don't think so. I do agree though that a measure of off-topic banter does add to the personality of a site, some of the funniest things I've ever read on here have been in hijacks and a bit of fun can really break up the depressing monotony of circular football arguments. However when we're in danger of the depressing monotony of circular drivel being broken up by the occasional football discussion something does need to be said.
