Surprised at the strength of the team, and especially Gerrard and Sturridge starting, but should give us a good chance.

Look forward to seeing Alberto, Cissokho and Ibe starting.

Sad to see the young lad didn't make it in the squad.

Strong side that. Can Toure play 2 games a week?!

Borini for Sturridge may have made more sense, but clearly Rodgers believes the latter needs minutes. Risky.

I'm surprised that Gerrard and Sturridge start given that we have a big game at the weekend, Sturridge in particular given that he hasn't had much of a pre-season I would have kept him fresh for the weekend.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's not going to be as intense as a PL match so.
                Are we winning?

                  Wtf,

Gerrard, Toure and Sturridge!! Taking a gamble there when we could have gave others a chance. With Luis out we are reliant on Sturridge

No European football, so there are going to be at least 8 games less (pre-group and group games).

Sturridge needs all the minutes he can get. I'm a bit puzzled with the selection of Gerrard, but I suppose he's a strong head and a leader besides Luis Alberto. Toure is still fit and sharp, and a leader besides Andre Wisdom and the recently signed Cissokho.

It's really telling that he doesn't seem to trust Borini yet for whatever reason.

IMO its because Sturridge lacks match fitness - not a lack of trust in Borini. Less pressure on Borini to bag a goal if he plays as a sub too.

I think Rodgers has a very sound plan for tonight. Dont tell me he would do something which could reduce our chances against the scum. He knows the importance.
