Is Ilori left or right sided? I've never seen him play but already think he's a better bet than Lovren

He's right footed. I think he plays left sided CB

Loan him out to someone decent in the championship so he looks better than he is and then sell him.

I didn't watch the game, but almost everyone else who did said that he was one of the best players on the pitch. So was he really that awful??

Not sure what they were watching but I was memorably disappointed:

              1. General play - whenever Sweden attacked Portugal's box there was headless-chicken chaos. Not completely blaming Illori for this but the warning shots were audible. Sweden could have and should have won the game in normal time with the quality of chances they had in front of goal (thanks partly to the defending).

              2. Coming out of defence to tackle - on two occasions Illori broke line to tackle a man in midfield. Both times he lost out resulting in confusion among the remaining defenders and a big gap. He was giving his team mates the jitters.

              3. Illori again broke line to tackle a winger not too far from the half way line right by the linesman. The winger shrugged him off too easly for my liking leaving Illori on his arse and again the rest of the Portugal team bricking themselves. This was the Lovren moment.

              4. Clearing the ball in the box, he was always unsure what to do in the box. It seemed he was caught between whether to tackle or keep moving back. As a result Sweden got some decent efforts away. In one instance of general mayhem in the box Illori tried to hoof-clear but skewed the ball a few feet away into the Swedish winger's path. Again Sweden should have scored from this.

He did have 3 or 4 good moments too. But on the whole there was more calm in that defence when that other defender took his place at virtually the last second against Germany. Like I said before, this could have been a really bad off-night and he will get better.
              One tit for another.

Some 'Lovrenesque' moments but those aside he was ok I suppose

So in summary Ilori was that **** Sweden couldn't score in 120 minutes?
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

And Djimi Traore won a CL. Both outstanding defenders.

The forgotten man again. Any idea what's happened to him?

Behind Gomez in the pecking order now and seems to have no future here.

He's not even with the squad at the moment is he? Think he was given the same amount of time off as Can due to the U21 Euros.

Ah of course he was in the Euro final! Cheers Reece.

Ironic really as doing so well there has lead to him being well and truly leapfrogged by Gomez.

Well presumably he will have opportunities in pre-season to stake his own claim when he joins up with the rest of the squad.

Not sure how he'll be able to do that as he will available to play only one pre-season game on either 1st or 2nd of August.
