Well, whatever it is with him he is going to find it very difficult to make his mark now that Luis is back also.

personally i did feel that both gerrard and sturridge looked leggy - gerrard age wise seems to struggle playing too often at the moment and sturridge due to a couple of knocks, lack of pre-season and basically battling through the first 6 games as our only striker

but if the staff/players feel they are fit then great.

i'll be a bit pissed though if either go and pick up a ****ing strain or niggle and it turns out they weren't 100% though

would be great if we've ****ted them and 3-0 up with 20 mins to go, no injuries and we swap them both for say sterling/lucas

Wonder what celebration Luis will do when he scores tonight.

i do jest a bit - part of me does agree with the got to give players time to bed in etc and i am not or at least trying not to get on his back, i just don't see anything in him that suggests he will offer us anything - i did get into a bit of an argument over it with a mate the other day - he's the type of liverpool fan who is super positive, know it all, but i can't ever remember going to a game and he's never kicked a ball in anger in his life. I hate those types - Incidentelly, it was just before kick off on saturday.....at half time, i threw a little line at my mate, "told you aspas was ****...subbed at half time" - his response was he thought Aspas had played well and had a good half - why he get subbed then? haha

anyway - i hope i'm proved completely wrong - i have been in the past, i thought joe cole/kewell/morientes were master stroke signings and well we know what happened there.....however i don't recall ever being wrong where i've decided early on that a player isn't good enough and they've turned out to be class and proved me wrong.

I'll even go as far to say, i could understand the reasonings for signing Voronin, - experienced striker, who had played champions league and international football, scored a few goals, picked up on a free as a squad player - it didn't work out but i could see the reasoning behind it.

i'll admit i've had a go at players - prime examples could be lucas and henderson, at times they've pissed me off, but i've also defended them, certainly in their early days, because i could see why we've signed them and there was signs that they might have something....

but Aspas, nah - baffled, i called it pre-season when people where getting excited with a couple of goals against no marks. I thought he looked **** scuffed a fair few chances.

i was hoping for - at best, admittedly knowing little about him but going on what i had read here/papers and what rodgers had said, that whilst he might not be a top goalscorer, he'd be similar level to Milan Baros - who contributed with his work rate, harrassment of the opposition etc and it was clear there was some ability there but it looks way way off that level which for a 26 year old pro costing about £7m is a bit worrying.

as i say, i was never ever expecting him to turn up tree's, rip the league apart etc - i just thought, this could be a decent squad signing, but honestly i don't even think he's near that level - whether it's too early/he hasn't settled or whatever

i hope he proves me wrong, and i'll be made up if he goes on and does ok for us

Aspas was highly rated in Spain though, Laudrup tried to get him and was furious at the failure to bring him in. I think he'll turn out OK in the end, that is I expect to see some improvement from him as the season goes on.

Aspas is fine and will be decent for us, I don't get this obsession with every player we sign being brilliant from their first game.

                He is settling in.

Yep. He has looked ****, in fact he has been ****. But he's clearly better than he's showed so far. Everyone must know that. Not sure he'll ever be good enough to start or whether he'll justify the price tag, but we can say with confidence he definitely isn't as **** as he's shown so far.

He'll get better - whether the improvement will be sufficient is up for debate.

                      was he?

3 seasons playing for Celta B in a nothing division - 4 seasons in the spanish 2nd division (only one good season) and then one season in their top division, where, he's done well

if he was 21/22 coming through had tore up the second division, then had a decent season in the primera - then fair enough

but at 26 - how much is going to develop?

anyway wrong thread for this - good luck Aspas - hope you come on from the bench and score the winner

Nail on the head. He has been gash so far, worse arguably than the first few games that Assaidi had tbh.

Whilst I expect improvement from him, I just cannot see him reaching the level we need (unless we are continually challenging 7th or 8th spot!).

If Jones plays, we may as well rest Sturridge,Gerrard and Hendo.

                              Moses in a midfield trio?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

If correct it will be more of a 3-4-1-2.

                                With Moses in the '1'
