The 'L' stats are quite telling, Ferguson lost more than us over that period because he 'went for it'. Whereas we drew 5.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post
For what it's worth:
P18 W15 D1 L2 Pts 46
Pretty amazing run that. Works out at a 92 point performance over a season.
One of the losses was obviously to us, when we demolished them 4-1 away.
One tit for another.

Norbs, you didn't love Rafa?Originally posted by Norbs View PostI wanted to say that and then I got goosebumps after a second or two

****ing love Rodgers in a way I never could take to Rafa. He's going down in history that man

Hmm, might have to revise my opinion of you somewhat. Hmm.
3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I don't think it's particularly telling. Not as telling as the other figures, which totally disprove any notion of us "setting up defensively" as you claimed.Originally posted by BigChief View PostThe 'L' stats are quite telling, Ferguson lost more than us over that period because he 'went for it'. They lost the same as us over 17 of those 18 games (1 defeat) - the only difference being the time we played each other and we were all negative and beat them 4-1 away.
Also over those 18 games, United went for it and scored 35 goals - 7 fewer than Liverpool who set up defensively and scored 42.
United also kept 10 clean sheets in their last 18 (more than us). Pretty good for a team who went for it!Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

It's annoying (and a load of bollocks) but I'm also quite enjoying it. Everybody is FUMING!Originally posted by rodo View Postsick to **** already of this talk of being handed the league on a plate as if no other ****ing team wanted to win it and the league is over 38 games not the 14 odd we will have had played after christmas its just ****e the same with the no european football lark thats being trotted out maybe city chelsea etc should spend all there money on a better ****ing squad then if they cant handle a few extra games
And we haven't even won it yet. Imagine if we do. The fume levels will go through the roof.

Hello mate, I'm more talking about later on when the only points we dropped that I can recall were Arsenal at home in a 4-4. We were hammering teams around that time. I remember we blitzed Villa 5-1 or something and stick three past Blackburn with a Torres wonder goal. Also remember the 3-1 defeat to Chavs, but an awe inspiring attempt at a come back at the Bridge, even with players missing. I don't care what anyone says. We were brilliant that season, only thing was United were better at dispatching ****e teams when below par.Originally posted by BigChief View PostDon't agree DannyMan. Around Jan/Feb, post fachts statements (nothing wrong with that by the way), we started setting up defensively. Stopped going for the jugular. Granted we got loads of points but we were not convincing game after game as we are now. Manure didn't just slip up, we let them in the back door.
The feeling now is the opposite. Even if Chelsea get two goals, maybe even three, I don't believe our team will let that go unanswered. We push and push and push. And as they say lady luck only favours the brave. Manure were brave back then and got all the lucky goals. We're brave now and will continue to get the breaks.
Its on, and its nothing like 2009!!
No doubt we are better to watch now. I'd actually place us closer to that United side than I would Rafas. Rafas was all about control. I don't feel that with Rodgers, just swashbuckling attacking football which was the hallmark of Fergies sides.
I've said it before, but the best thing about Rodgers is that he is like a sponge. He just absorbs everything. He is always learning and building. We'll be a different side next year for sure. When at Swansea, Barca were the best around, his team was called Swansealona or something daft. He tried to replicate that style. It looked similar at LFC initially.
But the landscape of European football changed. In came the quick counter attacking German sides who just killed teams on the break. I swear, LFC started to morph to that style. I'm looking at the CL this year, and we are seeing low scoring games. Rodgers will know that at that level, clean sheets are a must. I bet this team changes again. Still quick on the break, but keeping a solid shape that's difficult to break. I think next year we could be a complete monster of a team.Forwards.......

And I don't care a jot if people go out there way to rubbish our title win. We win 11 on the bounce. That'll be what wins us the title if we do. And if City blow it, well failing to beat us at Anfield when on top will be the reason.Forwards.......

We didn't because we were surrounded by Fulham fansOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI love all those images. I love all the chanting of "We are Liverpool...." & "And now you're gonna believe us....."
My only issue is if we don't go and win the league! I remember watching the YouTube video of Fulham away in 2009. All the fans singing "We're gonna win the league...." After Yossis late winner. I saved it to favourites and watched it time & again. Was gutting when Man Utd didn't crack. It really felt like our year. The downfall that followed made it even harder to take.
I don't buy the fact that this our only crack at winning it. People say the league will be tougher next season but they say that every year. Look at last seasons comments:
Spurs and their Dream of a midfield will challenge....
Wenger spending money finally & Ozil the missing piece.....
Jose returning will take Chelsea to the top again....
Man City without Mancini will be all guns blazing due to being happy campers.....
Man Utd are still gonna be a force with the players they've got......
It's the same every season. But I do think it would be a massive relief to win it now. And I do think we will, though it's not done yet, I just don't see our boys dropping their standards and taking things for granted.
Fixtures wise:
Both us & City have Palace away. No advantage.
We have Chelsea at Home whilst they have Everton Away, Normally I'd say our fixture is the tougher, but with Chelsea playing between two European ties and being out the race, I fancy Everton who are still fighting for top 4 will be the tougher game.
In fact, I think we will go into the Palace game next week knowing a win gives us the title. And as I've already booked the Tuesday off, you can guess what I think is going to happen.....
