We go again next season, we beat expectations, if we score a hatful against Palace we should try and do the same again with Newcastle..

Otherwise it was great feeling those title race emotions of 24 years ago so thanks for that.

There's no way Everton are going to surrender that game. Absolutely no way. Some tossers calling a radio show saying they will do it doesn't represent anyone other than that particular tosser.
          Are we winning?

Other fans are loving the fact it was Gerrard,he's getting battered from all angles. Really hope its him who pulls this out of the fire for us.I'll be ****ing rubbing the cunts noses in it for months.

Everton will take **** all from that game,we've seen it all before, talk the talk all week then just not turn up.We did it ourselves against Chelsea! City will drop points though.

Call me mad if you want...but I can really see villa getting a point at the etihad..they will park the bus ( a la plastics..) they don't need to win there, a point will do them..
Can't see an Everton side (minus Gareth Barry ) getting anything..

That's the hope I'm clinging to anyways..

We could do with Newcastle winning tonight to give Everton a bit of incentive to win at the weekend.

Thought the same myself. Neville was saying just what I was thinking during the match, we were forcing it so much in that second half. Needed to keep our heads and think about the pass a bit more. Johnson lost his mind and decided to either run into people of wildly shoot.

Carras points on Chelsea's shape with the 10 men behind the ball was spot on too. Very difficult to find space to attack into. We got the game plan totally wrong, in hindsight we should have passed it round the back and killed the game and drawn them out and hit them hard late in the second half. From the first few minutes it was obvious they were wasting time to kill the crowd and we fell for it. We should have kept it and knocked it about and given the crown some ole's to cheer about.

Ah well onwards and upwards to the title with a little help from Everton, villa or Big Sam's ale house 11.

I'm as sick with the doom mongers as I was with the we'll smash them camp. ****ing hell not one cunt on here knows what's going to happen and I include myself in the cunt collective. the last time I felt this low with regard to football was when cantona won the ****ing cup final against us. Its a ****ing killer. I could happily of got myself smashed up in the pub yesterday, the anger was coursing through my veins, in a pub with chelsea and utd fans glorious in our demise. Even now I'm fuming. But just got to hope and pray for a miracle, it can happen, it probably won't, but there are still games to be played. There is a chance and its better than nothing.

I think a sense of perspective is required by a fair few on here.

I was talking to a couple of Chelsea fans at work today, and they were being surprisingly reasonable and circumspect. They are as gutted as us because had they won just one of the games against Sunderland, Palace or Villa they'd have the title in their hands. Same can be said of Man City and their draw against Sunderland and defeat to us in a game that most of us agree they should have won. The fact that it's all still in the balance means we're still in it, not out of it.

                            A few observations:

The media are dicks. Claiming that we have thrown the title away is utterly ridiculous. Throwing it away is what Newcastle did in the 90s when they blew a lead of a dozen points or so. Getting 33 out of the last 36 points is almost the polar opposite of throwing it away.

At the start of this season we were in year 2 of a 5 year plan. Champions League was an aspiration but not essential to Brendan's position. We've scored goals for fun, won a huge number of games, played amazing football, not just secured CL but avoided the qualifying rounds. We're still right in the title race with just two games to go. If anyone had offered us this in August, or for that matter in February, we'd have bitten their hand off. We've got a young team full of really talented players and one of the best young managers in the world, and I think that years 3 to 5 of the plan are looking incredibly exciting.

In the middle of the last decade we were part of the big 4 who always qualified for the CL. That changed in 2009 and we were in the wilderness for five years. Now we're back, but not just scrapping for fourth, we're back challenging for top spot. I think we have a manager and team to stay there, and to win this thing in the next few years.

Add to all that the fact that Arsenal are a team in decline and United are a team in utter disarray, and to me there is way more to celebrate than to be miserable about right now.

Long way from being over. Everton have only lost twice at home whilst City have only won half of their away games including 5 defeats. Everton fans may want their team to lie down but it is a team of professionals playing.

In 95 you would have bet that we would have lay down for Blackburn to stop United winning the league but that was not the case.

It has got tougher but not impossible.

After copping some pisstaking from a few people today I just simply asked them whether they would happily swap positions with us now (Spurs, United and Arsenal fans). They sort of looked a bit glumly at the floor and agreed. They didn't take the piss after that.
