A world cup year is a very bad year to become a new manager. You either try buy players before the world cup.. But players and clubs don't fall for that anymore.. They know a good world cup boosted value. Aswell as that new managers get very little time with new signings if they are away at the world cup and need a further break after.

So a new manager, desperately trying to sign over priced players and then not getting time to get that squad continuity before the season starts. That's not to mention the pressure and expectation at the United job.

So let them laugh and be pathetic enough to support another Manchester club in spite. When we are playing the top teams in Europe.. They ll be either watching us on TV.. Or if they manage to get europa league they'll be playing on a cold Thursday night in the Ukraine. We'll see who is laughing then
    this

end of the day in the premier league there is probably only city - at a push chelsea who wouldn't swap their seasons/current positions with our own.

city due to their £££'s, won the league cup likely to win the league

chelsea wouldn't swap with us because of their £££'s and love for mourinho

Arsenal may be happy if they finish 4th and with the FA Cup - but it's not been a great season and they really let their title challenge slide

Spurs - have squandered a lot of money on a lot of ****, sacked a manager, appointed a clown and have a few issues

United have been a ****ing laughing stock all season and have no champions league football next season plus rooney on £300k a week

everton - have a bit like us exceeded expectations but have still fallen short and bottled getting top 4 in what is their best chance ever (ie both spurs and united being so bad)

    None of them have.........

1 - played as exciting, consistent football as us.

2 - have as exciting youngsters as us

3 - have as good a young manger around

4 - have fans that have displayed unrivalled support and passion (i think this is what grates them the most and is why they hate us so much - they see the fans greeting the coaches early and think **** - i wish our own fans did **** like that)

5 - have people off the pitch running the club that get 'us' - ok we don't have city or chelsea owners - but we don't have glazers or levy and we don't the arsenal/wenger "4th will do" attitude.

As i say - city/chelsea aside (and this only due to the money they have from their owners) every single club would swap their position for ours right now

guarenteed champions league football, young vibrant quality squad that play attacking football with a manager clearly building something and owners that whilst aren't billionaires they are not broke and not cunts
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

THIS. Drives me absolutely ****ing insane.

This is largely an issue across the pond though. American football fans don't have the same historic associations and bitterness so they are ironically a lot more rational about which sides they support neutrally. Most of the footy-following people I know here prefer Liverpool to City/Chelsea by a mile.

I think the majority on here are right, the smaller clubs fans want us to win, but the bigger clubs fans are ****ting it because we have within a nats whisker of winning the league on a much smaller budget than any of them. 50mill Ozil, 27mill fellani & no champs league, etc...

We are at the start of a great period in our history & they sense it

        It's fear

The **** these fans are dishing out is purely embarassing bearing in mind how **** they have been

Today I've had Man Utd 'mates' laughing at me. Manchester United fans laughing! We have stolen their CL place, ****ted them home and away, their title is being taken by City, they have had to resort to supporting City - and they're trying to laugh at us. LOL.
Yep. I know a couple of Arsenal fans (English and not American, incidentally... haha) who have begrudgingly pledged their support to City because it would make them feel even worse about their own team's shortfalls if Liverpool won it. If City wins it, they can at least denigrate their win by saying "well they only won it because they have so much money." No one can say that about Liverpool without being absolutely ridiculed.

People say we've blown it, but we've been hearing all season comments like....'Doesn't anyone want to win this thing!'. relating to the fact sides have gone top only to drop points handing back the inititive to their rivals.

So maybe, the next time this happens, ie: final day of the season, there won't be time to slip up and hand back the initiative.

            All about the timing.

Re comments on fans wanting City over us to win title:

I think if City win it then those fans can say...'But they bought it', whereas if we win it then it shows up their own clubs deficiencies and ****ness.

Already hearing the crapfest, that we won't even make CL next season because the other usual suspects will strengthen plus we have the extra games.

                  i think (hope )

that this season has shown the owners, the players (current/potential) manager etc how big winning this league is, how much it means to us as a club and what we need to do to get there....i fully believe now the owners must surely be more hungrier for the title than before....

with champions league guarenteed - we will surely strengthen the squad with 3 or 4 top players and hopefully 2 or 3 good squad players.

People we want to come here and be part of what we have shown on and off the pitch - superb attacking football matched by unrivaled fan passion.

Other than City and Chelsea (which is down to their owners) the rest have a lot to do.

Arsenal seem reluctant to spend and people aren't happy with wenger/their squad
United have a huge rebuilding squad
Spurs have a lot of issues on and off the pitch
Everton are having a ****ing laugh if they think they will have another season this good next year....they'll lose their key loan players and they'll not have champions league money to buy players of the required quality and their squad will not cope with europa football....

So yeah i do think teams will be looking to strengthen

but do this dickheads really think liverpool are going to sit tight and not look to improve also??

if anything coming so close and falling short will encourage the manager/owners and players to go that extra mile next season
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

^Aye. Coming this close only motivates us further, makes us hungrier. I can see Suarez staying another season for that reason, to right the wrong.

Do they not think Rodgers wouldn't have learnt, wouldn't have grown from this? The players too, and if they haven't, we can bank on Rodgers transmitting those lessons for them.

And if we can do great business in the transfer window which gives us the strength of bench and squad, watch out, world.

Villa are 16/1 to win tomorrow night

Ironically its great to not have to worry about tomorrow and Sunday now. Its City's to lose and their fans (plus Everton, Tranmere and Utd fans) will be biting their nails all week.

Can't wait for tomorrow's game, can watch it with no expectations other than enjoying any Villa attacks. Should City win that then I can do the same with the West Ham game.

Me too. Feel relaxed for the first time in ages and not counting down until the next big game.

Doesn't mean I won't be having a cheeky peek tomorrow nights though...
