    Title Race

By reading threads and speaking to fellow reds the general consensus seems to be that at best we have an outside chance of getting the 4th spot. I can appreciate this as we've had so many false dawns over the past 20 year.

But i reckon we should be aiming higher than that. The title this season really seems to be up for grabs. Our manager has been impressive thus far this season and in the calender year 2013 i believe us and Arsenal have the highest points tally.

None of the other contenders really seem anything special, and in addition to that we do not have the added distraction of european football which should work in our favour.

We currently sit 2 points off top with nearly a third of the season gone. We have every chance, let's just take each game as it come's - and see where it takes us. Although they may not admit it publicly, i bet BR and the players feel the same.

    Let do this!

We have more than an outside chance of 4th and with the right additions come January we could be well in the title hunt. Arsenal will implode, city, united and chavs all have a new manager and come January we would have already played most of our rivals away.

If we are still in the same position come January and we make few good signings we could be considered for the title. IMO top 4 is our aim and is more realistic... anything after that is a bonus. City,Chelsea & Spurs haven't kicked in yet and they are still there and there a bouts. United now seem to be motoring... for me they were never going to win the league but said previously it was only a matter of time before they kicked in.

We are going great.. title talk is just too much at the moment. Happy to be there and there a bouts the first 11 games... it's a great feeling.

As long as we're 2nd and within touching distance of 1st our aim should be the title. But if we slip down to 4th or 5th, then we can say that our aim is 4th place. The way I look at it - you don't aim for 4th if you are 2nd. You should always aim for higher than you are.

December will be the key. 7 games in all, including Norwich, West Ham and Cardiff all at home. Plus Hull away. Spurs away in the middle of that lot, and then the City/Chelsea double header over Christmas. If we can win every single one of those 'winnable' games and get something out of City/Chelsea, we should start to reassess in terms of title ambitions. At the moment it's not something I'm thinking about - just delighted to be where we are without having fully clicked into top gear yet. But a good December and it'll be hard not to feel a bit giddy.

We the fans and the owners couldn't have asked for more from the team and Rodgers so far this season. The only blemish this season has been the home game against Southampton, however they are proving to be a very good team.

For the first time since 08/09 i am expecting us to win games rather than hoping.

Annoying that the two games we've lost were against 1st and 3rd.

I know we beat United be we have got to start getting some results against the big sides. Routinely beating the dross is a good habit to get into though, a good platform.

I thought we were completely ****? I'm struggling to keep up.

Definitely mate, can't argue with that.

An outside chance of 4th is a ridiculously pessimistic view.

Chelsea and Spurs may not have kicked on but then neither of we - our performances can still be a little disjointed but we are actually grinding out wins we would not have got 12-18 months ago.

United are an aging team and the longer Moyes is with them the more the sitting back will become the norm and teams will pick them off for goals and they will lose the drive till the 95th minute they had under Fergie. If Moyes' training methods take their toll and they lose RVP for a prolonged spell of matches they would be screwed.

We're second, much improved on last year and improving still during the season. We have had a makeshift defence with a few injuries, had Couthino out and we were missing Suarez for 5 games yet are still second.

We have a very realistic chance of 4th and I think that we should actually be looking for a top 3 finish. If, and it is a big if, Man City keep faltering (and thats going to depend on how much constant rotating they do) and Chelsea keep insisting on relying on old hasbeen strikers then there is no reason why we can not finish above them too.

So last season our current points total would have had us in 4th.
                          Oh I don't know.

There's a way to go yet before we can start thinking of titles. Next up is Everton away...let's just keep going one game at a time, try and avoid the bipolar reaction to victories and defeats, and see if we're still in contention with 10 games to go. At the moment anything is possible, from 1st to 7th, but there's a definite feeling of momentum building.

For me the best way to look at it is that we're not actually out of the title race yet, it's a long shot for us but at this point in far too many seasons gone by we were already pretty much out of it already.

If by the end of December we're still only a few points off the top then it's something we can really consider as something more than just not being out of the title race.
