If we win 8 of out last 10 games, we'll also be on 83 points and by my reckoning, we'll be champions.

Agreed.Originally posted by jono View PostI'm hoping that City and Chelsea are neck and neck for this reason. If Chelsea only require a point against us then that hypoprick of a manager will bring the bus onto the pitch. If he has to worry about City as well then he will have to push for a win. That gives us more of a chance.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Would put Chelsea and City on 85/84. Us on 83Originally posted by RedReet View PostStatistically, odds are in favour of us beating City and Chelsea at home, considering our home record. Both teams have averaged 2.25 points per game which if continued will have them finishing on 83 points.

I already explained above.
They have ten games left (if City win their 2 in hand) and we are working on the assumption that we beat them both at home, returning zero points for them. That leaves them 9 games to pick up points, so averaging 2.25 per game earns them 20 points for the rest of the season, so 83 points.
Now I'm not stupid, I know technically that if they get no points against us, then the average for the other 9 games will go above 2.25 to maintain their season's average, but that's too boring and complicated to work out. As it stands, I have us as Champions!!!
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Then you should have paid attention to the rest of the thread when it was explained.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostI naively asumed were talking about an average across games left. ie. the 2.25 they didn't pick up against us would be gained by picking up more than 2.25 elsewhere. Sort of like, how averages work
