No midweek European matches. Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League or Europa League last season has been a blessing in disguise, with the club playing substantially fewer games than many of their rivals.

I love this one - it's great. Whilst i agree, it has been an advantage to us - the counter argument is brilliant

if it is so much of an advantage - why has no other team done it

Liverpool's rivals continue to suffer as everything falls into place for title win... how this week has been perfect for the Reds

It has been another good week for Liverpool Football Club. While Steven Gerrard and Co. keep their heads down and focus on winning the three remaining Premier League games that will bring them a first title since 1990, their rivals continue to suffer.

Jose Mourinho wants to play the kids at Anfield on Sunday after Petr Cech and John Terry suffered serious injuries in Chelsea’s 0-0 Champions League draw at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Manchester City won on Monday to keep their title hopes alive but the influential David Silva left the field on a stretcher and will miss the next three weeks of action. And as for Manchester United…

While Liverpool have been outstanding this season, and nobody would suggest a Premier League title is won on luck alone, it certainly helps to have a sizeable dollop of good fortune.

Some would call it luck; others argue you make your own luck. Whichever way you look at it, it seems the fates are conspiring for Brendan Rodgers’ side…
          • Ahead of Sunday’s crucial match at Anfield, Chelsea have lost two of their most experienced and influential players, John Terry and Petr Cech, to injury, while manager Jose Mourinho has pledged to field a young team to prioritise victory in the second leg of the club’s Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid next week.
This could just be Mourinho bluster, but Liverpool would no doubt rather face a team without Cech and Terry (and a couple of others) in the starting XI.
Liverpool have had their fair share of injuries
          • You can go back as far as May 8 last year to see the first signs of Liverpool’s good fortune. Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement as Manchester United manager and Liverpool received a substantial helping hand in getting back on their perch as a dynasty came to an end.
A Premier League double against the champions in 2013-14 has done Rodgers’ side no harm at all, although they could have done with United taking at least one point off City or Everton.
Seeing United in such disarray under a former Everton manager, however, has probably made up for that in the red half of Merseyside.
What if United had taken points off us?
          • No midweek European matches. Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League or Europa League last season has been a blessing in disguise, with the club playing substantially fewer games than many of their rivals.
Wigan’s FA Cup victory and Swansea City’s triumph in the League Cup have paid dividends for Liverpool, who finished seventh in 2013.
Doesn't constitute an unfair playing field. We've missed out on targets explicitly because of having no European football.
          • When Liverpool players start scoring goals for other teams against the parent club's rivals, you really know your luck’s in.
So Lukaku scoring 4 goals against Us, Arsenal and City has no bearing
          • Fabio Borini’s penalty for Sunderland consigned Chelsea to a 2-1 defeat last weekend. Naturally, the Italian is on loan from Liverpool.
Chelsea's hoovering of talent has been just as pivotal
          • David Silva's injury marred City’s 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Monday night, after Yaya Toure limped off the field at Anfield on April 13.
Vincent Kompany then made an uncharacteristic mistake from which Philippe Coutinho profited quite brilliantly to give Liverpool a 3-2 victory. It could be argued their rivals are literally falling at their feet.
Sterling's 3yds on, disallowed goal. Enough said
          • Penalties. Liverpool have had 12 this season in the Premier League – more than any other club this century – and converted 10 of them. It helps when you have also scored more goals than any other club and have Gerrard ready to strike from 12 yards, of course.

right now i wouldn't give two ****s if we won the remaining 3 games - 1-0....and all three goals were shots going wide that hit the referee and deflected in

Have we missed 2 pen? When were they?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

That must be teh Steve Peters effect. I'm so confident with our penalties now, that i even count the ones we miss.

                              Cheers.
