Untied have been playing well recently too. Unbeaten in 11 I think.

The last 6 game stat is a funny one as potentially with the next 3 fixtures we could and should take 9 points, I'd assume that would put us right back in the top 2 or 3 form wise.

This season we need to take every league game as it comes, we've no European distraction and I'm not fussed about the FA cup pqrticually either, all about the league
Make it the last 7 or 8 fixtures and you get the same result.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A lot of our rivals are playing eachother over the next month so plenty of points will be dropped by them too.

Barring an utter disaster I still think we'll be top four by January. Then a good signing or two in that window and a strong finish to the season really would give us a chance.

Its not selective by my choice, I was just interested in the form and thats the first option that came up. Saying that, its 50% of our total games so far and its a good range of games as an indicator of how things are going.

Personally, I've been more than happy with how things have panned out so far, but we have to hold our hands up and admit that those who we will get in the top 4 have been very poor by their own standards and I fully expect them to pass us over the xmas period.

Arsenal finding form is probably the worst thing to happen, as I genuinely thought if we did have a chance, their's is the place we could take with a bit of luck. I'd much rather see Chelsea or City running away.

There's only one stat that really matters and that is the league table. We're doing brilliantly, stay in the mix through xmas, bring reinforcements in Jan and then mount a serious title challenge. Easy peasy.

Selective probably wrong choice of word, but it was quite a small range and coincides probably with our worst form of the season. Despite this, our points gained should still be enough for 4th over the course of the season and if you stretch it to 8 games back or look again in 2 or 3 weeks time it could be seen as title form.

                it's been a funny season

You always expect United to be there or there abouts, and even with Moyes i still think they will be up there in spite of his efforts

Arsenal - they looked doomed until they signed Ozil, got a massive lift and looked unplayable. though the ****e performance against united shows they're not as great as they look

City - Always expecting them to be up there with the squad they have - had some rocky moments but i expect them to really challenge

chelsea likewise once they get going have the squad and the money to improve.

Spurs, been ****...but despite being 9th are only 4 points behind us - two or three results go there way and all of a sudden they are right back in the mix.

then surprise packages if you like Southampton and Everton who would be most people's favourites to fall of the pace but they will still play a big part in deciding who finish's top 4....our draw away to Everton could be a huge point.

                it's a mental season.

The points we've dropped in the last 6 have been Arsenal away, Everton away and Newcastle away. Not exactly gimmies. We're still well on track for the top 4

next three games huge - 3 should/must win games

get the 9 points and it'll take a little bit of pressure of going into the harder games in December/over xmas

Not quite there yet but as a side we're getting there.

After 24 games last season we were on 35 points and 24 (yes 24) points off the top of the league and 7 points off 4th

This season 24 games in we're on 47 points and after tonight's game a max of 9 points off the top of the league and 2 points ahead of the team in 5th.

A good leap forwards so far this season, I guess we'd all like more but for me that's a great improvement in a pretty short space of time

Lots more to be done and we need to improve many things still on and off the pitch but the evidence is there we are heading in the right direction and actually pretty quickly.

                        I couldn't agree more.

Aye, I think we've moved forwards well this season but we've certainly still got a few ricks left in us but bar probably City and Chelsea I think all sides in the league will have them.

This season is the most I've enjoyed football for a long long time

Well, we are the most feared team in Liverpool.

                            That's a start, I suppose.

                              Agreed.

However, the prospect of missing out on 4th place hangs over us like the Sword of Damocles, the long term set back that could occur should it happen, makes dropping points like yesterday all the more painful, handing back 2 to the Bitters having hammered 3 out of them not days earlier; was painful.

Lots more money up for grabs in the Champions League next time, could help set a team up for a regular top 4 spot, hope we make it.

This resurgence is happening with a joke of a defence (i.e. injuries). When you see the likes of Ashley Cole and Clichy on the bench for the bigger clubs it shows how much more scope for improvement we are able to tap into compared to them.
                                One tit for another.
