True........but Sterling's pace counted against him in this case. I think the ref interpreted the current rules as best he could in this case, as it could be seen as out of control.

Yep........Anfield showed great solidarity with him today - would hope he wouldn't have to listen to any 'getting sacked in the morning' efforts at any ground after this week. Some respect shown as well to whenever the Cardiff fans started up their chants as well.
