Some first half that was. While it would have been nice to have completely battered them in the second too, in a way, seeing as we comfortably took the 3 points anyway, I'm almost glad for MacKay with all the ridiculousness at that club that we didn't. Great to see Sterling becoming a real threat for us again, though he does need to work on his final ball and decision making still - after Suarez set him up on a plate he really could and should have tried harder to return the favour on several occasions later on.

What was the idea of 3 at the back? Wouldn't an extra midfielder have done the trick?

It was probably because of the Cardiff changes, bringing on an extra forward, kind of good to see Rodgers respecting them enough to do that at 3-1 and try to ensure no further slip ups. Besides, which other midfielder?

I think when kelly came on things went bit all over the place at the back. Kelly went central for the set piece and left Sahko with 2 men i think?

I thought it was Skrtel, but wasn't watching Kelly so maybe. I do tend to think it is usually Skrtel's fault - I know the guy is performing this season and the way Rodgers picks on form is great, but regardless he continues to concern me (as he has done for years really).

I think Johnson will be sold in the summer. He will be into the last year of his contract and is on something like 130k per week or something stid like that.... I personally think that the committee will look at it and think "you know what, even if he accepted a pay cut of 50k, we'd still rather not pay him 80k a week". I expect the plan was to get Wisdom game time and bring him as the first choice RB but Flanagan might have thrown that plan up in the air. In reality though, we will have Kelly, Wisdom and Flanagan that can all play there - and all 3 combined won't be earning what Johnson is!!!


The game yesterday was good. I am loving the midfield 3 taking on more responsibility without Gerrard in the team and I hope it continues. I actually think Lucas developed as a player for us when Stevie got injured a few years ago and he was enabled then to play his natural game. It's just the likes of Allen, Henderson and even the full backs and wingers now can think "what's the right ball" now as opposed to " is Gerrard free?"

Also, maybe a few weeks of nobody telling them what to do on the pitch all game is actually refreshing. That said, Stevie is a class player and should be in the team - I just hope the few games without him in it give the other players confidence to okay their own game a bit more. I'd actually consider putting Gerrard in for Sterling when he is fit again - play Hendo in advanced role or even Gerrard behind Suarez and use Sterling as an impact player. If Suarez continues this form though, Sturridge could find himself as an impact player as well though because BR would be stupid to change formation at the moment...

Do I think we can win the league? Not too sure to be honest. I think United will come back into the reckoning for a while as they have some easy games coming up. But we have most of the top teams at home after Xmas - which might help big time. The no euro footy night help as well - although I can see Arsenal being in the same situation after the next round, I hope Man City neat Barca and then get United in the qtr finals and they kick the **** out of each other (and a carling cup final in there as well)

I was made up when that cunt Owen missed out on a CL medal in 05 after moving the year before..... I will be a little sad for Carra that he didn't stay and have Kolos squad place for this year if we were to win it......

Poor I thought. Been off the pace and has been for a few now.

I suggested at the time that we could swap one of them for a midfeilder and let Lucas drop back like he's doing now. Interesting to see what we do when Sturridge gets back.




Again he wasn't at his very best, but his confidence on the ball and willingness to get forward is definitely an asset we miss when not playing.

My Dad popped his clogs 4 years ago - miss him. Used to have half time/full time reviews. My mum went in July - but she wasn't ever interested in footie I can forgive that but still miss her.

On a less mawkish note - the cream is at the top again.
