FA Cup: Oldham (H) Buildup & match thread

I've never really understood why we have separate pre-match, match, and post-match threads. What is the reason?

It just sort of developed organically, I guess the theory would be that people don't want to wade though a load of prematch speculation etc to get to the teams & game talk, then afterwards leaving the match thread open (which often has quite reactionary posts in) isn't particularly productive or necessary for people to talk about the game as a whole.

Well, for me. Especially if I miss the game or end up pausing it and finishing watching it later than everyone else, I like to have a read through the match thread just to see who agrees, disagrees, if Henderson is **** again, y'know the usual. Having to trail through 5 - 10 pages to find the start of the Match is just irratating, as is the same for finding the post match stuff.

You should read them man. Your football chat is good.

I do sometimes partake in the odd match thread, just to get amused at the carnage and over reactions. Or to talk about chocolate biscuits. It is funny to see that people are still complaining about something or other when we are 4-0 up, But never, ever retrospectively. That is just mental.

BBC possession stats are often weird and wrong (and are now showing 48-52)

Fwiw they've not had a shot yet. Sounds like a typical FA cup game v a lower league club to me.
