Echo say Sakho & Sturridge could be fit for the game against Stoke. They also say Flanagan & Allen should return for the game against Villa.
    Almost full strength for 2014!

              Lucas - Gerrard

              Bench:
Jones, Kelly, Illori, Rossiter, Coutinho, Sturridge and a bag of chips (or Moses)
That could easily be the lineup for Sunday but I'd personally put Kelly on right and GJ on left and drop Cissokho.

Also would hope to see Coutinho start as he could be a tough player for them to contain.

lucas---- gerrard just doesnt have any strength in it. lucas will press and get some tackles in but if its on steves side they can waltz past.
maybe time to try henderson next to lucas, and slot gerrard further forward. at least he wont leave us wide open at the back.

maybe lucas----allen with hendo in front. bring gerrard on later when we need some fresh legs

But then we lose Hendo's pressing higher up the pitch.

I don't think our best midfield has both Lucas and Gerrard in it, but without Allen available I don't see any reason to switch from the three that've played most of the year. It has a few problems but it's been more than enough most weeks and should be enough to dispatch a thin Stoke.

Stoke are evolving, but old habits die hard and these will still be a threat from free-kicks, crosses and corners. If Sakho's fit I'd play him, and go with:

Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Cissokho, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez

With the definite hope of giving Sturridge half an hour from the bench.
