You also have to take into account that when your defence is in sheer panic, it affects your entire play. That left side of Cissokho and Toure is calamitous. The keeper isn't inspiring confidence either.

We've got more than enough quality to win this but we need to make changes.

Harsh as it sounds I'd take either Coutinho or Sterling off and bring on either Allen or Lucas to make a 3 man midfield with either Sterling/Coutinho playing in behind Suarez and Sturridge, these two naturally drift around so we can drop in when they have the ball.

I'm sorry to say this, as much as I love the man, but Gerrard only plays in this team because he's Steven Gerrard.

In this defensive based position, I'd agree. Put him further forward and he's still got more than enough to make a difference.

The defensive shoehorning of Gerrard doesn't work. Totti hasn't gone further back, neither did Baggio. Gerrard is an attacking player.
