    What a ridiculous comment.

Over half of Gerrard's international games have come in the deep or holding role for a start, he played the holding role loads when breaking into the team and establishing himself, either holding or wide right.

It's complete and utter bollocks to say he can't play there and 'needs practice'
If that is so explain his worst ever performance in the first half against Villa

It's going to take a little bit of time to get used to, but I've played it many times for England and a few times for Liverpool in the early days, so I'll be comfortable in there once I get a few games in."
This is a quote... from Steven Gerrard. And nobody said he hasn't played the role for England

When the man himself is saying it's going to take him a few games to get used to the role, it doesn't really make my comment that ridiculous does it?

Bournemouth are 16th in the Championship, it is a perfect opportunity for Gerrard to get comfortable in that position for LFC. Club football and International football cannot be compared, they are completely different.. as are the personnel/set up at international level

So either play him against the 16th place Championship side for an hour ... Or start him in that role off the back off two shockers in that position, in the derby... against Everton in an absolutely vital game!!?

      What sounds more logical?

P.S. Calm the **** down you fruit cake

or accept the fact that we haven't got the personal to accommodate him in that role, so rest him against bournemouth so he is 100% for the derby and play our strongest 3 of Allen/Henderson/Gerrard

what dya think about that cup cake

it's been awhile since i've been called cupcake

It's all about opinions, with Everton and Arsenal approaching.... Gerrard getting as much playing time in that position is pretty important. As he has said himself, it's going to take him a few games to get used to. Personally i'd rather he have a learning curve against Bournemouth than against Everton or Arsenal.

He may get away with mistakes against a championship side, but not against Everton or Arsenal.

I'm kind of shuddering at the prospect of Arsenal attacking defensive midfielder Gerrard with their quick, fluid attacking midfielders.

I would be relishing him being further forward playing Suarez and Sturridge in.

yeah - personally i'd rather we accepted he hasn't got the legs/we haven't got ideal personal to play alongside him for him to be successful in this role, certainly trying to try something like this at this this stage of the season is not madness....it's sparta.

Short of us making a DM signing and throwing him straight in.. seems Rodgers wants Stevie G for that position. Personally i'd be happy enough with Allen & Henderson deep lying & Gerrard pushed up behind the front line.

Arsenal demolished us in the midfield in the last game, it is a daunting prospect.

Our last 2 games were surely a wake up call to Brendan that Stevie can't play the DM role, 5 goals conceded in 2 games with Gerrard in that role that can't be a coincidence clearly and BR is hopefully intelligent enough to see that.
I'm hoping we see either Allen in the DM role or a return to 3-5-2, neither of those scenarios are ideal but until we sign another DM it's the best we can do unfortunately.

I agree with The Birdman actually and agree with Rodgers decision to play him in the holding role. He can prove himself to be our best option there in my opinion. I think Gerrard will adapt but we could do with a really mobile anchor man, someone like Fernando Reges from Porto to give us a different option depending on the opposition. I really hope Gerrard can prolong his career with this new role.

                            Same here.

This would be a perfect game for him and I hope he is given a chance.

Only 15 players fit and training.Might want to have a word with the fitness and conditioning people you employ Brendan.

So we have 15 fit players that for a start is a disgrace fitness and conditioning people need to be sacked , but the league is the most important so I would rest all 1st team players and play our fringe players and kids we cant risk an injury to anyone else with only 15 players
