The opposition having more possession in games where they're being outclassed doesn't mean anything. In both games we were content to let the opposition make countless, pointless sideways passing without any penetration. There are games where the team with more possession is the better team but the games against hopelessly outclassed Everton and Arsenal show that this is not always a good yardstick

His point is not that our possession stats are poor. It's that they mark a shift in our philosophy.

It's weird - people complain that the forums, Twitter etc are too busy after a loss and quiet when we win...but really, what is there to say after a win other than "we were amazing", "that was ace wasn't it" etc? Not a lot. There's much more to discuss when things go wrong, always been the way in football. It was (and still is) exactly the same in pubs post-match, before the internet was invented. Just the way it is.

I know what you're saying, it's definitely cathartic to vent after a bad game.

But I don't get how anyone could honestly be stuck for the countless positives to discuss and pore over after a performance like yesterdays?

Basic human nature, people will always be more vocal about things they don't like.

Also add into the equation the fact that people will have been too busy watching replays, watching MOTD, laughing at Arsenal forums etc etc where as when we lose we avoid replays and stay in this nice safe environment

Yeah all that I can accept, it was more the notion that there's just not much to be said after a win (particularly ones like yesterday or the the derby) that I found odd.

such a big shift from some peoples obsession with possession and using it to justify a false perception of an improvement in our game during our 'tika taka' days, stats are bollocks. its what you do with it that counts.
