    Shameful to be honest.

I've thought the standard of refs this season in particular has been very poor but he takes the biscuit; time and time again he makes these kind of mistakes or judgements when they're so clearly incorrect; never is he called up on them though.

Off to the world cup no doubt to hand out 3 yellows in a match and not send someone off as it'd ruin the match - cunt!

We should have taken the result away from Webbs clutches though today, if only our finishing was a little bit better we'd have still been pissed off but with a win in the bag rather than a loss.

I don't think he's biased, just ****. Arsenal had a penalty claim today and Gerrard could have received his second yellow card too.

Sturridge scores just one out of his three and Webb wouldn't matter.

He's a terrible ref, as Shaggy has said almost all sides hate the ****er as he gets so much wrong on a near weekly basis.

Was voted the best ref in the world last month as well, ****ing unbelievable!!

He's just a ****ing horrific, incompetent referee. Shambolic how highly rated he is. Howard Webb "MBE" might have something to do with how much shockers he gets away with.

Eto'o on Suarez at Chelsea and now this. Two absolutely blatant penalties. And yet he'll swan off to the World Cup as our 'best referee', completely unaccountable for his incompetence. Never challenged, he never has to say a single word publicly. It stinks and I hate him.

Not too fussed about going out of the Cup but hate losing to those bleating ******s. Worst crowd in the division, screaming for everything, *still* that sanctimonious and ridiculous "HOOOOOOOF" every time we have the ball off the floor and the most small time "who are ya" pricks around. Hate them.

As already mentioned it felt nice to establish that we're better than them, even though we lost. Battered at our place and clinging on for an undeserved, poxy win at home.

I feel good about where we're at. Let's have a go at winning the ****in league.

Sums it up perfectly for me. But just to add.....

......my, how I despise Webb, Arsenal and their fans but I tell you what, I have waited over 20 years to see us play this style of football again and I am absolutely loving it. We were the better team and we have more than just momentum now, we have a unity, desire and level of football that genuinely can get us to our holy grail....this season even.

Suarez is just an astonishingly effective player and may the day he leaves be a long long away.

                    Hello Tee

Agree with everything you say there. Even great teams get beaten sometimes so let's sit back and enjoy the season unfold! It's clear we aren't going to get worse so good times are ahead.

I do hope Rodgers sticks Suarez in the central position next week. He'll take the absolute piss out of Williams and I can't wait to watch!

Same again Tee, fecking hate their lot more than any other team, including the Mancs. Bleeding arrogance stems from Wenger all the way through the players and into the fans.

If only Strurridge had capitalised in the first 10 mins and I suspect we would have seen a similar drubbing to the 5-1.

                      Oh and; **** WEBB.

We're receiving a lot of praise in the press this morning for our approach to the game, and Webb is rightly being criticised, even by Henry Winter.

I keep forgetting that we won at the Emirates in 2011 under Dalglish, but the performance yesterday was really encouraging, and by far the most confident I've been of us winning there in-match.

Sounds like our playing style is starting to bed in

The big decision goes Arsenal's way

How referee Howard Webb did not give Liverpool a second penalty when Oxlade-Chamberlain fouled Suarez, I do not know. He got a massive decision wrong.

People might say Suarez overreacted but it does not matter about that - it was a penalty.

In the end, though, both teams can take something away from the game.

This was an even more important result for Arsenal because of what happened to them at Anfield, and it should spur them on for the rest of the season - in the title race and their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Liverpool have just the league to look at now, but the way they played in this defeat shows why they are favourites to take fourth place. I thought they were the better team.

Liverpool are out of the FA Cup because 'weak' Webb refused to award clear penalty

Liverpool were denied a clear penalty and likely equaliser when referee Howard Webb refused them their second penalty in a pulsating Cup tie.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain clattered through Luis Suarez, with Webb perfectly placed to see the offence. Suarez’s theatrical ‘dive’ will not have helped nor did the fact that Webb had already awarded Liverpool a penalty.

Those who have not been in such a pressure-cooker situation would not understand that, but I do.

Webb, of course, with his experience and pedigree, should do better and be above such weakness — Liverpool are now out of the FA Cup because he wasn’t.

Webb contributed well to an absorbing cup tie between Arsenal and Liverpool - but all his good work will be forgotten because of one error. That's the way it works for a referee.

Webb had a clear view of the incident but somehow managed to wave appeals away. Perhaps it was the theatrical way that Suarez went down or his reputation which made England's leading referee hesitate.

One other factor could have been that he had only just given Liverpool one penalty for a much 'softer' foul. I know that, perhaps illogically, that is a factor.

However, Webb was correct to give the first one and therefore his confidence should have been high.

I remember the late, great referee Jack Taylor telling me that he had no hesitation in awarding a second penalty in the World Cup final as he knew the first was 100 per cent correct.

He had been accused of 'levelling things up' by awarding West Germany their spot-kick after giving one to Holland before the Germans had touched the ball.

In a game where Webb did so many good things which helped the game and certainly did not penalise Liverpool, keeping Steven Gerrard on the pitch after his challenge on Oxlade-Chamberlain being one example. It is a real shame that his error will linger in the mind.

It's funny listening to the reaction from arsenal people this morning. You'd think they'd won the cup rather than scrape a home win in the 5th round.
