Jones is IMO getting way to much stick. He is a decent backup keeper, that is happy with his role and I can't see a major problem with him.

And I think it's plain wrong to blame him for the goal, yes it was strange tipping it over. But from there we had a corner and a free kick and the ball bouncing around in the area.

It's all conjecture what would have happened if he did something different. We could still have gone behind a minute later, might not - really doesn't matter as that's not what happened on the night.

Jones had a good game overall last night.

Yeah I thought Jones played well, his save from Ozil at 2-0 (I think) was excellent, he came off his line and dominated his area really well, looked as good as I've seen him tbh.

Just infuriating that a loopy cross he really should have caught he played safe with and tipped over which led to Flanagan's foul (he rushed in at 200 mph) and subsequently their 1st goal
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Well that's not his fault really then.

Isn't it more Flanagan's fault then? If you really want to blame someone for the standard situation leading directly to the goal.

Jones was solid yesterday. Came well for crosses, good save from Ozil, distribution decent. He didnt make Flanagan do that clumsy tackle. His save from Ozil was actually a top save. Had decent starting positions too.

No its actually better to blame someone else for the goal rather than the person actually at fault

Agger is also ****e for getting beaten for pace by Ox in Agger's first game back

Halsey claims Webb has lost focus following Arsenal-Liverpool controversy

Under-fire referee Howard Webb has lost his focus on football and needs to 'take a long hard look at himself', according to his former colleague Mark Halsey.

Webb, who will be England’s refereeing representative at the 2014 World Cup, has come in for much criticism for his performances this season.

He was again derided following his display during Arsenal's FA Cup defeat of Liverpool, with his decision not to award a spot-kick for a challenge on Luis Suarez leaving Brendan Rodgers furious.

Halsey admits it was a 'nailed-on penalty' and claims Webb currently has too many distractions in his life to be at the top of his game.

"Howard has made an error of judgement," said the ex-Premier League official, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

"He has not had the best of seasons. He has not been the Howard Webb we all know.

"Perhaps he may need a little rest because he is perhaps doing too much.

"He is not just refeereeing football matches, he is doing a lot of work outside of football. He is doing a lot of after-dinner speaking. Everyone wants Howard Webb because he was the World Cup [final] referee [in 2010].

"He has to take a good look at himself in the mirror and ask himself what he wants. This [refereeing] is his full-time job and he has got to concentrate on this.

"He has to forget about what he is doing outside of football. He has got to put that on the back-burner and concentrate on what he is being paid for full-time."

Flew in rashly, which he hadn't been prone to over the last few games, but **** happens. Has to take responsibility.
You can even level at Skrtel for wanting to attack the ball back in, but he felt he probably made the right call, as it would have been unchallenged otherwise, leaving the ball to two unmarked Arsenal players. Another culpable moment.
Even Cissokho not tracking the position either.

Jones is well down the list of blame.

Will be annoyed if the club keep accepting him reffing our games. Fergie used to influence choice of Refs. We've got good reason to question his appointment. Need to put some pressure on to him as opposed to just accepting the shocking 'mistakes' he makes in our games

Got every ball he came out for (was refreshing to see that I must admit), and while he tipped the ball over prior to the first goal........there are others to take the blame for that goal instead of Jones.

Don't think he done anything wrong yesterday, but not suggesting he should be playing regularly by any means.
Aye, thought he was generally pretty good- quite commanding of his area. Shouldnt have tipped that over the bar, but there was a lot of play inbetween that & the goal, so he really cant be blamed despite my anger at the time.

Without Jones tipping over a loopy cross that he could have caught easily as he wasn't under any pressure none of the rest would have happened, all that happened after Jones gave away the corner.

Like I said, he played well but it's his fault, he's an experienced keeper who took the wrong option.

Sure go back further by that rationale.....like whatever happened to lead up to the initial play, before Jones tipped it over. Probably Coutinho losing possession or something before the initial attack. You can only analyse goals so much.
Jones probably felt it was safer to push over than try to catch, and possibly spill into the net, or spill to a forward. For whatever reason, it happened, and fortunately we had enough play in between to influence what would have happened next..........unfortunately Flanagan's foul maintained the pressure on us, which ultimately led to an ineffective clearance, before the ball was back in and so on...

In hindsight, we can always pick out things to blame, but ultimately, we brought that goal on ourselves, and no doubt, a few players wished they had done better.
