No, we had plenty of time to sort ourselves out and Jones never made Flannagan go in for a stupid challenge (or fail to track Podolski for the second goal either for that matter).Originally posted by The Birdman View PostVery, very easy to blame Webb.
The truth is we played really well, as well as I've seen us when away to another 'big/top 4' side.
We lost because Brad Jones (who otherwise played really well) tipped over an easy cross for a corner that directly led to the free kick for Ox-Chamberlin's goal.
And because from a combined 6 easy (for them) chances Sturridge and Suarez couldn't score.
Allen played well but Henderson is the heartbeat of Rodgers' Liverpool, we missed him massively.

I think you're slightly missing my pointOriginally posted by McDermotX View PostSure go back further by that rationale.....like whatever happened to lead up to the initial play, before Jones tipped it over. Probably Coutinho losing possession or something before the initial attack. You can only analyse goals so much.
Jones probably felt it was safer to push over than try to catch, and possibly spill into the net, or spill to a forward. For whatever reason, it happened, and fortunately we had enough play in between to influence what would have happened next..........unfortunately Flanagan's foul maintained the pressure on us, which ultimately led to an ineffective clearance, before the ball was back in and so on...
In hindsight, we can always pick out things to blame, but ultimately, we brought that goal on ourselves, and no doubt, a few players wished they had done better.
Every single goal scored at any level everywhere in the world is because of a mistake someone made somewhere in the build up to that goal.
Jones is 31 years old, an international who has been a pro for 13 years.
It's his job to relive pressure not heap more on by giving away another corner to defend.
Flanagan is a young kid learning on the job.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

But Coutinho misplacing his pass 2 mins before, not to mention Allen not running fast enough the min before that, plus Cissokho giving the ball away the min before that all contributed as well surely.
Good thing about set pieces is that you can reset and start again, which we had two opportunities to do in the lead up to the goal...........but **** it, Jones is to blame for putting us in that position. In fact, it's ****ing Rodgers at fault for creating the pre-destined scenario by selecting Jones in the first place.

I'm a bit uneasy of all the **** going the way of Webb, he made a massive mistake - Yes, is he a crap ref - Yes. Is he bias against Liverpool - Doubtful. Makes us all look like Man Yoo fans !
In fairness, if Sturridge had converted his 3 really good chances we wouldn't be talking about this error quite as much. In addition, defensively we were all over the place.I make no apologies, this is me

He deserves the **** he gets. Fergie and Utd pressured refs into their favour for years. Not saying it will happen here, but he has made some highly dubious decisions against us going back years, not just this season. He shouldnt be reffing our games based on that and his links with South Yorks police. ****ing **** refOriginally posted by Deano View PostI'm a bit uneasy of all the **** going the way of Webb, he made a massive mistake - Yes, is he a crap ref - Yes. Untouchable. Most would get demoted. He is an average ref. Had a howler a couple weeks agoOriginally posted by Chris View PostWebb was today given a Premier League game for the coming weekend. Glad to see he's been punished.
Can do no wrong.
These guys have no accountability so no incentive to improve. Weird

Absolutely disgusting the amount of abuse Jones is getting. I see plenty of goalkeepers tip over crosses like that every week. If theres a chance the crossbar will get in the way its safer to tap it behind. It's logic.
Every cross that came in he punched the ball far away, not caring how many players he had to smash through to get to it. He did excellent. It's funny most of the people abusing him were actually up in arms about him being int he team BEFORE the game even started. He'd done nothing and already they were calling for his head. Take a good look at yourselves.
