Rodgers: “Agger has been outstanding in training this week. He will play on Saturday – there’s no question about that."

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Said Agger's sub was tactical just like 'taking off a winger' or smtn.
Sakho and Lucas both in full training.

He also admitted we weren't good defensively

Liverpool received a double boost on Thursday as Brendan Rodgers confirmed that defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva and defender Mamadou Sakho have both returned to training at Melwood.

The former has missed six weeks with a knee injury picked up against Aston Villa last month, while the latter has been out of competitive action since suffering a hamstring problem at Chelsea in December.

Saturday's trip to Southampton in the Barclays Premier League will arrive too early for Lucas, but his French teammate will be assessed before a final decision is made on his potential participation.

Rodgers told reporters today: "We've obviously had a couple of players return to training. Young Sakho has trained this week, which has been great. We'll see if it's too early for him this weekend.

"And Lucas Leiva rejoined the group today, which was great. Jose Enrique is still out, but apart from that we don't have any major injuries now."

The Northern Irishman was asked for more details on Enrique's situation - the Spaniard has not featured since the beginning of November - and provided the latest news.

"It has just been ongoing," Rodgers responded. "He has obviously got the issue with his knee; he has come back after a good spell in America.

"He is rehabilitating well here. There's no timeline on it. I trust the medical team here, they are very good, and they'll advise me when he's nearly fit."

If you're a winger being taken off to bolster defensively, then you'll think that's fair enough.

If you're a defender being taken off to bolster defensively, then you'll be (rightly) crapping yourself.

Hopefully, the kick up the butt Agger needs against Lambert and Rodriguez. Brendan's good at kick-up-butts.
                    One tit for another.

Especially when your being tactically replaced by Kolo Toure!

Great to have everyone back fit.. especially with the defensive frailties. Pity that Enrique is still a bit off as it's a position that has been sorely lacking. Such a tough game vs Southampton... 3 away games on the trot is going to be testing. Suarez getting back to scoring ways will be really good timing, the guy is due a bundle of goals over the next few months!

Think "Lambo" could have a field day from set pieces this weekend if Agger and Skrtel start!

Our toughest remaining away fixture. A win here could really spur us on for a final push for the title.
