Mignolet was good today. Commanded his area well and a crucial save which kept us in the game.
      Are we winning?

His distribution was woeful at times though, and he still punches too often. Granted if he cant catch I would rather he did this that a David James flap.

            Good post.
I also liked your recent work in the Suarez thread when you said Luis will be off to Madrid in the Summer.
If we win the league I look forward to you complaining about us not winning the FA or Carling Cup.

Seriously though Mignolet was much improved today, apart from his one excellent save he commanded the area came out for crosses and as for his distribution I'm not sure what you're on about, he didn't make a single mistake. We did use the long ball a bit more today than usual but if you saw the post match interviews you'll know that that was all part of the gameplan to counter Southampton's pressing high up the pitch.

On another day Lallana and/or Rodrigues would have scored and we might have dropped points. Not saying we were lucky to win as such, in football you don't always get what you deserve and that could easily have been the case against Southampton.

I agree....but the fact is we are flying from an attacking perspective....i think i would prefer to be dangerous on the front foot as opposed to needing to keep a clean sheet to have a chance to take 3 points in a game

I think that sakho and more importantly Lucas coming back at the right time for the run in could be pivotal....

I can possibly see Man City (pellegrini) folding under pressure.....i can see arsenal going tits up and potentially finishing 5th behind spurs (although more likely 4th) but i cant see chelsea ****ing it up to be honest. If Mourinho needs a draw at anfield to win the league, i woukdnt be surprised if he cheats his way to it. Have a horrible feeling that we will lose it by one point or something....or Torres getting the ****in clincher for them in front of the kop....

But i feckin live watching us now.......and i would feckin love it if we topped the league come may....

We still had the better of the chances and weathered their attack. Suarez, Sturridge and Henderson all should have scored.

It's not impossible that we can win this but it is still unlikely. If we keep it together and both Chelsea and City **** up then the league is ours but I think the odds are against all three of those happening. We would have to screw-up badly to lose out on fourth now and I can't see that happening. I'm a pessimist at heart but surely we can't finish lower than fourth now?

                        Thanks mate!

I think its a reasonable fear. How can either Barca or Madrid not want the guy. He is possibly the best player in the world, and I am worried that we have got him to resign his contract by sticking in a release clause (papers talked about £70m - which to me undervalues him).

But regardless, his kicking is poor, and he takes too long to release the ball when he throws. I wont dispute that he is a world class shot stopper though.

Did someone get a touch on the shot that hit the post? I swear it takes the merest of deflections to take towards the post.

And looking at Arsenal's forthcoming fixtures, we can be optimistic about nudging them into a battle for fourth with Spurs rather than us, unless we completely collapse.

                            Arsenal fixtures:

                            Tue 11th Mar 19.45 Bayern Munich A

                            Sun 16th Mar 16.00 Tottenham Hotspur A

                            Sat 22nd Mar 12.45 Chelsea A

                            Sat 29th Mar 17.30 Manchester City H

                            Sun 6th Apr 13.30 Everton A

If we go on and beat Man City, we'll be in a fight for second. And if we can beat Chelsea, then we'll be fighting for the title.

Just keep going, one game at a time, and if we keep chipping away we can do this!
Those games will have a massive impact on us, if we can keep winning, I hope for draws in the Spurs and Everton games and Arsenal wins against City and Chelsea. That should put Spurs and Everton out of the race for 4th, Arsenal a few points behind us and us right in the mix with City and Chelsea.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I still can't get over the fact we won 3-0 away against them. Skrtel was so dominant at the back. Sturridge is just unbelievable playing in the wide areas.

It was hair raising at times, because Southampton did really well to exploit the space in midfield, but we kept at it and were clinical when our opportunities came.
