the result will lift the team and fans but we need to sort out some of the sloppy play in midfield and the **** finishing from some of our 'professional footballers'

we have all dreamed of being in with an outside shout at the title, although third is most likely, but we need to tighten up and play like we mean it.

This is true, but you could say the same in any game. Dempsey had a chance for Fulham v Chelsea at 0-0, if he scores that could be different. In the Hull v Newcastle game, Krul makes a superb double save and less than a minute later they take the lead & win 4-1, which looks a battering. In the Everton game, Nolan was dragged back when clean through and should have seen Barry go. In the Arsenal game, Sanogo should have buried a chance in injury time.

I have listed every other game there from yesterday. Every single one of them could have ended differently. You could likely do the same with virtually every game in the league. And yet it's always the best teams at the top & the crap teams at the bottom. It's not a coincidence.
          Forwards.......

I don't understand what you're saying. We were the better team. We won 3-0. We got what we deserved. Southampton got what they deserved. Simple really

Luis Suarez's opening goal ended a run of six hours and 52 minutes without a Premier League goal for the Uruguayan forward.

This was Suarez's 62nd Premier League goal in what was his 100th PL appearance - matching Robbie Fowler's record after 100 PL games for the club.

Suarez has made 10 Premier League assists this season and is the outright top goalscorer (24) and joint-top assist maker (10) in the competition in 2013-14.

Raheem Sterling scored a goal with his first touch after coming on to the pitch as a substitute.

Luke Shaw (18y, 7m, 17d) became the joint second youngest player to make 50 Premier League appearances after Wayne Rooney (18y, 2m, 4d) and level with James Milner.

Sterling also made his 50th Premier League appearance in this match, becoming the seventh youngest player to do so (19y, 2m, 21d).

Daniel Sturridge failed to score in a Premier League appearance for the first time since November 9, 2013.

Liverpool's tally of 73 goals is the most by a team after 28 games of a Premier League season.

Luis Suarez has won 13 penalties in the Premier League since his debut for Liverpool, seven more than any other player in the same period.

Crazy when we just averaged a goal a game for the first 5.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

So they both scored the same number of goals after 100 appearances?

                      Yep, incidentally Torres managed 63.

Suarez had 21 assists though to Torres' 12.

Obviously Suarez is comfortably the better all round player.

I think Sturridge v Torres will be the most interesting comparison. At his current rate he's going to beat both Torres and Suarez in terms of goals after 100 games.

Sturridge is technically the better player. By quite a lot.

I don't understand why some people constantly feel the need to rewrite history. Sturridge is a hugely talented player, and if he continues to develop at this rate will be epic. Torres now is undoubtedly a hollow shell of the player he was for us, but let's not forget exactly how good he was for us, and how incredible some of his goals were.

Torres was brilliant. Sturridge is brilliant. Saying one was or is better than the other is a waste of time, and completely without merit. I love watching Sturridge now in the same way that I loved watching Torres 5 years ago.

Makes you wonder if we had held on to to Torres how good he would have been

I think he was already on the wane, unfortunately. He never quite shrugged off the injuries. We were lucky enough to get his peak years.

Saying that Sturridge is technically superior than Torres does not mean saying that Torres wasn't good. Just an assessment of their technical skills.
