    Paco Herrera

Do you think his leaving has had a part to play in our form this season?

It may be bull****, but in comparison, I think a big reason for Liverpool's decline under Houllier was when Patrice Bergues left. It doesn't surprise me that he is now a member of the Lyon staff.

In Rafa's words, one of Paco's roles was to help him watch opponents and write reports on the players and teams we would be coming up against.

Good point. I thought the same about Bergues.

Of course it may just be coincidence but if an important member of the backroom team leaves it's going to have some effect.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

It has certainly affected our reserves.

I don't think we have seemed under prepared for games though. Maybe Paco had some role in co-ordinating our coaching though. It's hard to tell. It could just be that all managers like someone with similar philosophies to bounce ideas off and now Rafa doesn't have that.

this has been brought up an awful lot, I don't think thats the reason tho. It's not as if we are loosing every match, we're just loosing away ones, and I don't think herrera featured much in the first team operations anyway, at least not to the extent Patrice Bergues did for Houlier.

I've said it before, we need someone like Sammy Lee or even Thommo on the bench, someone who really knows the EPL, Willie Millar is not the answer.

recon he was the players man, it's been said that rafa isn't interested man management. but his assistant must be to keep the balance, and if paco was that man, i can see why it is even more of a problem than him just being a great coach...

It would make the approach to sign Gary Mac make more sense as well. He doesn't seem to have the coaching experience we would have wanted from other candidates but he would have had the respect and confidence of the players.
