They just showed it again on TV. Rodgers got it exactly right. Flanagan touched the ball past him before the goalie touched it and then took Flanagan's leg. The evidence was there from several angles. Definite penalty.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostOn the other hand I would disagree with BR. It's a rare occasion.
Even if the goalie got the ball first - which he didn't - the ref could have given it because it was a reckless challenge that took the player out.
But that's a moot point. It was a penalty anyway

He was wrong on the penno though, Adrian took Flanno's legs while the ball was still right in front of him. Clear penalty.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Agreed, baffled at the uproar about it. Yes he touched the ball but that doesnt make it alright to then haul Flanagan down by his ankle aswell!Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostPenalty all day long. Adrián gets some contact with the ball but then takes Flanagan down with his right arm followed by grabbing his calf with his left hand for good measure.

Spot on.It's not even up for debate. Touching the ball does not mean that any contact on the player can be ignored.A common mistake made by people.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostPenalty all day long. True. Many slide tackles get called a foul because of a follow through. For me, Adrian doesn't get enough of the ball. But at that point it's clearly up for debate as there is no clear ruling. However, because he leaves his hands in and kinda half grabs hold of Flannos leg, it's a definite penalty. Daft, because as he does it, it's clearly half hearted because he knows it's foolish. Same as Tompkins, clear foul but it's more of an instinctive thing than intentional.Originally posted by G View PostSpot on.It's not even up for debate. So, both penalties for me.
The Carroll foul was a joke. I have to say that watching that game, I didn't see us winning it. West Ham were superb in the first half, gambled by rushing at our attackers, but we couldn't cope. Excellent to win in those circumstances.Forwards.......
