No matter what happens i've ****ing loved this season
At the end of the day, most of us said at the start of the season that if we could just seriously challenge for fourth place until 6 games to go it would have been a good season. Few imagined Utd falling so far so fast, and most of us thought we were still a bit behind Spurs and Arsenal, particularly after missing out on our key summer targets.
As it is, whatever happens we will be in the title race until the final whistle on the last day of the season. It is a tremendous achievement regardless of the disappointment of the last couple of games.
Because of that, I'm totally pissed off with the result, but I'm nowhere near as devastated as I probably should be tonight. I really think we're building something here, and we'll be better again next year. I don't buy this "best chance we'll have" stuff. We're deservedly up there now with a weak squad. If we add to it in the summer we'll be better next season, and year after year as long as Brendan stays and is backed by the owners.

This surprised me - those one-nils we ground out early in the season we had a similar defensive set up to Chelsea's, and we were happy to defend the edge of our own box. I thought at the time that it was something we were learning (like the three at the back) so that it could be deployed as necessary throughout the season, but we've not done it once since those early games.Originally posted by G View PostWe closed out games earlier in the season when we were hanging on,why, just why didn't we even attempt it tonight.why?

Because the goal difference was in peoples heads, everyone has been banging on about it for days, the fans there were chanting "attack, attack, attack" every 2 minutes. At 3-0 fair enough but at 3-1 we should have just chilled, instead everyone bombed forward again to get back the goal we'd just lost and it was costly, 3-2 and obviously all the momentum and confidence is with them, it's their home etc, hard to get a grip in that situation.Originally posted by G View PostWe closed out games earlier in the season when we were hanging on,why, just why didn't we even attempt it tonight.why?

No one is disputing the fact it's been a far better season than we hoped for. Im over the moon with CL football and a second place finish if that's what happens. What I'm not happy with however it our diabolical defensive display's which have cost us when we are comfortable in games.
Our defensive errors have cost us the biggest prize of all. A lot of those mistakes have been individual errors as well.

I would have been horrified at the suggestion of Cole coming but after tonight it's made me realise it's players like him we're lacking. Players who concentrate for 90 minutes, who make the majority off decisions within a match correctly and who ultimately DEFEND their goal at all costs. Palace have conceded three goals fewer than us. An apalling statistic.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostAshley Cole in our defence next season would be great. He's hardly played all season and has come into the Chav team and looked like he's never been away. Cunt or not he's better than what we have at the minute.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

post the wba game where kolo ****ed up if you'ld have said that we're now gonna take 37 points from the final 14 games dropping 5 points in the process I'd have thought you were crazy. An awful lot to be proud of this season.
