Centre backs are all about partnerships and they don't look a good one, sure. But to just point the finger at solely those two stinks IMO.
Lucas especially should have stayed behind and combined with Gerrard at 3-2 to shut them off but he was still going box to box.

Sadly, all season we've been very shaky seeing games off after taking the lead. Especially in the final 10-15 minutes. Need to do something about it.

We also look very tired late into the game because of the crazy pressing and full on attack/defense switching because it makes the players sprint more when covering the same distance compared to our opponents. I think BR would have taken note of it and we will see an improvement next season.

We only need to draw to finish second. We'll do that.

Aye, it's the first thing I thought of when I woke up too. What a shame to lose it that way, but I guess losing it on GD would've been worse in a way. It's just we had put the pressure Citeh and took it right off again. Can only hope Agbonlahorror turns into Messi & Ronaldo all in one.
      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

It's the fallacy of thinking we could boost the goal difference that didn't help either.

We had to be realistic and look at the probabilities. Expecting us to win 5-0 + against Crystal Palace and Newcastle, especially with the pressure of a title race factored in, wasn't right.

That's inexperience and a lack of know how on how to manage the game.

I felt every emotion possible in those 90 minutes ... I'm wiped out.
Ive got a range of emotions, gutted amd angry the extremes. But still remembering how only a few years ago we were almost done for. Now on a shoestring we made it back to the CL

Got to be happy with that

"We were outstanding for 78 minutes," said Rodgers. "We got three goals and looked like we could get a few more, but to concede the three goals at the end was hugely disappointing.

"At half-time, we said that the most important thing was to win the game. It was not about Roy of the Rovers football to make up the goal difference, it was just about winning.

"We just did not manage the game at 3-0. We gave them a little sniff and they have some good players who can punish you. It is something we will improve on for next season."

While I don't think we can blame Clattenburg for the result, the players have to take the blame for that. I thought he had an awful game (I said so numerous times in the match thread before they scored), I thought we could have had 3 penalties, two of which were IMO clear cut.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I also didn't feel it was that big a choke. We were pouring forward looking for more goals. We were looking for more goals. Everyone was thinking the same....let's get 5 or 6. Naive maybe, but we live by the sword and die by the sword and it finally caught up with us.

I am so gutted though. Hardly slept last night. In shock tbh.
We were hoisted by our own counterattacking petard. Aye, the goals were important but we would've been better off taking the points and hoping for a Citeh **** up. A magnificent achievement in general and I never thought we'd win the league but got as far as seriously considering what it's be like if we did. Getting that close & chucking it away is ****ing gutting.

All that having been said, I'm getting texts off a Citeh mate who's still convinced they'll **** it up.

I think it is the game management skill that we are lacking, we only seem to know how to play one way, I think when we concede a goal like we did with the first one last night we need to remain calm and composed an take a couple of minutes just to slow the tempo down, pass the ball around and don't let the opposition build momentum. We seem to instantly want to go out and redress the balance and it has almost cost us on a few occasions.

I think the problem was that we were so confident (at 3-0) that the 3 points were in the bag we thought we could get the GD boosted as well. And although I don't like the guy Pulis got his tactics spot on last 15-20mins to take advantage of that.

There is a birght side to this. At least now Rodgers has proven what a great manager he is, taking this side to 2nd in the league!

And had we wont the league, there may have been a feeling we could do it again the year after without many additions and people might have expected miracles from Brendog.

At least now, he should be backed, given cash, and we should get the deals over the line becuase with this guy in charge its amazing being a Liverpool fan again.

I think the cliche that you need winners in your team is true. Had we got a couple of players that had the guile and experience that they could come on and shape a game and see it out we would have won this.

And next year I expect Brendan to be a lot more pragmatic in his approach.

Great season, and you need the lows to appreciate the highs. 2nd!!!!

We should have had a penalty immediately before they broke to score their second but it was for the same **** Skrtel has got a way with all season so it'd be hypocritical to moan about. I can't remember being outraged by any other non penalties last night??

Johnson got volleyed on the thigh and Scott Dann took Suarez out off the ball.
