I've gone off international football for about 8 years or so. I'll passively watch it, as it'll be everywhere. My eyes are just on our title challenge next year and feel no affiliations to any international team really. International football, in general, is dull, like Hodgson.Originally posted by Alex View PostYou cant be arsed with a World Cup in Brazil? What?!?! I love that ****. Regardless of England. Are we winning?

What an amazing season. Played amazing attacking football and handed out some right floggings to some pretty good teams. We're back folks, make no mistake.
The future is also bright. Nothing like just missing out on a title to put the fire in the belly for the next few seasons. With such a young and developing side, if we address our (largely defensive) deficiencies in the summer, we'd have to come close to being favourites in many peoples eyes.

We've had a great season and I'm eagerly looking forward to the nextOriginally posted by peekay View PostAbsolutely don't understand the narrative that we wont have a better chance than this season. There is so much scope for development and progress in so many aspects of this club.
Manager - He has shown that he can handle the responsibility, tactically intelligent and flexible and demonstrated clearly that he is willing to learn. Purely from his role, I think he will be better equipped next season. Most importantly he has shown the ability to work with players and improve them. I know several of us are looking for complete defense overhaul, but I think the biggest improvement is going to come from the manager who is going to work with the players on game management.
Squad - We have a small squad but there is so much latent talent in our squad. Coutinho, Sterling have so much more to offer. Henderson hopefully will continue on his upward trajectory. Even Sturridge, as impressive as he has been this season, I think has one more level to go up to. Flanagan will be better next season. Hopefully Texeira, iLori, Ibe, Suso will start making their mark next seasons.
New signings - Unlike last summer, there is a buzz around our club. Players want to join us. We are starting to see newspaper reports of Lallana being interested in joining us even though the Mancs and Chelsea are interested. Could we have dreamed of that last summer. Players are looking at our manager, style of play, the team spirit, the improvements which our coaching is providing all of our attacking and midfield players and wanting to join us. They look at our owners and their track record with sports franchises and know that they mean business. Also even if FFP did not deliver as much it promises when the concept was mooted, it will definitely arrest City and Chelsea hoarding up players. City might have won the league we must have the biggest positive buzz in England.
We have to buy well in the summer, that is an absolute must in order to maintain our current position nevermind continue our upward trajectory.
I must admit I do have nagging doubts about some things, such as will Suarez & Sturridge be on fire again next season? will we score as many goals from set pieces again next season? However I am hoping that any fall in those numbers will be offset by new signings weighing in with additional goals from midfield / attack or us tightening up at the backBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I agree about the Suarez and Sturridge bit Lecter. Suarez has been sensational for two seasons now and I just hope that he can sustain that level into next season as it'll be crucial to us winning things. Then there's the world cup in between, which isn't going to help. So as you say, it's crucial that we buy well to get that much needed depth to rotate the centre forwards next year. Are we winning?

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see Suarez still being here at the start of the season. We have CL football, he seems quite happy and he is idolised by the fans. I just think that the lure of Spanish football will be too hard for him to resist if a concrete offer that matches our valuation comes in for him.

Its the set pieces thing that concerns me more, we've been phenomenal this season from them, its been a real anomaly because previous seasons we've been ****ing terrible at themBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Our valuation has got to be around the £90-100m mark... surely he's worth more than BaleOriginally posted by TheElephantMan View PostI hope I'm wrong, but I can't see Suarez still being here at the start of the season. I hope it doesn't happen but we've had a few false dawns over the last 24 years and have always had a terrible season following a near miss. It's that record that keeps me worried about how we'll fair next year. We have to get the summer signings bang on, no room for any dodgy buys with the extra games we'll have. As we saw, even with just the league games and a few cup games a lot of lads seemed to be struggling over the last month. World cup won't help us keep players fresh either unless we have the depth to rotate.
