I missed Ilori off my earlier list. Looking forward to seeing him in pre-season. If he impresses I can easily see us letting Agger and/or Skrtel go.

Felt an urge to write a squad post. I think Brendan is using this window to shape his squad for the next five years or so, looking at the age of players we now have and are recruiting. Just hope we can compete this season. I think we have three groups of players.

Sakho
Lovren

Henderson
Can
Allen
Lallana
Coutinho
Suso

Markovic
Sterling
Sturridge
Origi
Borini

These players are all quite young and can form a core of a team for at least five years. I'm very impressed by this group of players, very promising and exciting group IMO and bodes well. I'm not adding Wisdom, Ilori et al. but they'd be on the fringes and might make squad players.

Then we have the second group of Reina. Lucas, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Gerrard, Lambert and Enrique. Players who will not be making contributions to the XI in one or two seasons and might be moved on soon or retire with us.

Then there is the third group.......that's just Aspas.
