I think we may suffer with second season syndrome, teams will have figured us out a bit. On our fantastic winning streak pretty much everyone came at us and gave us a game (bar Sunderland first half maybe) and we blitzed them. I expect everyone to be looking at that Chelsea game, and take a more conservative approach against us and try and counter attack us.

Add in to that Spurs/United should improve, a fairly simple 12 points last season. If Arsenal get better luck with injuries and add a striker. A top 4 finish may be difficult never mind a title challenge again. Rodgers out.

Personally i'd be happy with a top 4 finish and getting out the group in the champions league. Anything else would be a bonus.

Who won the following season after we finished 2nd? I know the last time it happened united under Ferguson won it. Did that happen previously as well? If so then I think that's one good reason why we can break the jinx as he has now gone and he practically ran the FA. United are gone and so is their power so we've got a good chance now.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

The difference this time to that of when finished 2nd under Rafa is we haven't or hopefully will not lose any key players this summer. I am pretty certain we lost Alonso, Arbeloa and. And Sami Hyypia that summer. Although Johnson replaced Arbeloa, we never replaced Alonso and Sami like for like.

How could I forget 2006 when Dirk signed.
