    Team Spirit

I'm worried about it, i really am.
We've heard of training ground bust-ups, players out on the lash regularly(most notably Gonzalez), team-mates arguing on the pitch,
stories about our skipper's private life and last night Bellamy refused to talk about Liverpool, only Wales.
Do we have to many prime donna's in the changing room?

I noticed our lack of team spirit at Old Trafford in particular, no pulling together, very weak and very sad to watch.

Maybe i'm just looking for reasons as to why we've fcuked up this season but i feel the old team spirit of last season and the season before is not there at this present time.

Although there are one or two players not cutting the mustard - I lay the blame squarely at Rafa's door. So far this is Groundhog Day - a copy of the Houllier years - trophy wins in the first two seasons and a bag of ****e in the next.

I don't like our style of play. I don't like Rafa's tactics. I'm definitely not calling for his head - yet - but he needs to reassess his own performance before he starts on the players. The current team can play far better and more cohesive. I think Rafa is so intellectual and up his own arse with tactics that the players haven't got a clue what he's on about.

Great Shankly quote to Ian St John - 'If you're not sure what to do with the ball, just pop it in the net and we'll discuss your options afterwards.'

I don't see much of a problem with Bellamy not wanting to talk about Liverpool and his form for us when he has just played a Wales game where they won with a good performance from him and he scored to boot.

I'd react the same way to be honest and I think most players usually do in that situation.

Bellamy refused to talk about Liverpool, only Wales.
he was on international duty, why the fcuk should he be talking about liverpool.

same as, when playing for liverpool, why the fcuk should he mention Wales in an interview.

If at was all as bad as what you reckon mate, I think Rafa would have been hung by Moores already. The games might not be going to plan properly, but I doubt there's serious discent behind closed doors.

Im worries by the lack of leadership that gerrard shows some times.
I know people will point to Istanbul and Cardif finals. But this is leading by exmple, not leading as a leader. He bitches on the park when things dont go right. It doesnt do much to pull the team together. He should be encouraging the lads to do better, not bitching. He has also been lazy when things dont go his way, sometimes refusing to get off his arse quickly and get the ball back. I know people may think this is being harsh, but i dont, its part and parcel of being LFC captain, a minimum requiremnt, total commitment and the ability to lead in good times and bad. Id rather see Cara as captain any day.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                  * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Certainly hope not Morp but it's been on my mind in the last couple of weeks.
Maybe a team huddle would be a good idea before the Boro match?
I know a huddle doesn't automatically mean team spirit is back to its best but still i think it would be worth a try.

100% agree bazza, i don't think your being harsh towards Stevie at all, his body language is shocking when thing aren't going well, really, really poor for a captain for LFC.

I've always felt Gerrard is a bit arrogant, fair enough people will say every world class player hs a bit of arrogance about him but it's different with Stevie, he moans at his team-mates constantly,
he gives these glaring dirty looks and sometimes he just doens't seem interested when it's not happening for him and/or the team,
keep coming back to the game at OT a few weeks ago but that was the prefect example.

I too wouldn't have any qualms about Carra being made captian.

you may have heard them mate, but i haven't. my job is heavily centred around the premier league and keeps me quite well informed as one of my colleagues is a former liverpool captain. most, if not all, of what is reported is utter bollox to keep people interested.
