Or how about we utilise him correctly? He isn't a wingback and all Rodgers has done is systematically erode his confidence, if we play him in his natural position he might flourish. He was played as a wingback partly through necessity I'm sure we'll be back to a back 4 this coming season and IF he proves he's worth a slot in the side he'll get it in his preferred positionComment

I think the most instructive comparison might be with Ozil. He really struggled in the PL until he strengthened himself during his last injury rehabilitation despite being a really class player. Markovic is also young and it was his first season in the PL, there are plenty of players that' struggled in their first season and especially when you're not getting consistent game time in your preferred position. Hopefully we'll see more of what he's capable of this coming season but he's going to have to earn his place, as it stands I don't think he's a regular starter for usComment
