It might have been better to loan out Ibe but keep Markovic IMO, but it seems that Rodgers has a special liking for English players.

I remember(ish) a quote while back where he said that English players lacked the proper coaching, they where just a good as players abroad.

I think he and Martinez were both quoted a lot the summer before last on similar subjects. Both seemed to agree on that and that one major thing holding players back was first team opportunities.

I'd have liked to have both options in the squad (one right, one left). That said if the manager doesn't fancy a player (for whatever reason) I think a compelling argument has to be made before you leave them hanging around potentially breeding dissatisfaction.

Or said manager removed because he fancies the wrong players constantly.

He was hung out to dry when asked to play wide in a 352.

Utterly bizarre treatment of a £20m signing.

                Just a bad £20m signing.

Although I do think, as do you, that there's a player in there. Just overpaid by I dunno, £12m or so
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I don't know that he is a bad player, we certainly overpaid for him, but our handling of him has made the situation worse, he was always going to take time to settle, a young player in a new league, but playing him out of position won't have helped things. Loaning him out was probably the right move, particularly when you consider that had he stayed he would have still been playing out of position. I guess the question is what happens next, and I guess that depends on what the manager thinks of him next year.

Good player but wasn't worth £20m. I don't get paying full price for a player with potential. For £20m you can sign a player that has already proven themselves to be good enough, if you scout properly.

Not, oh look, he looks like he'll be worth £20m one day, let's buy him now for £20m.
                          Forwards.......

That run, as impressive as it was, seemed to have a bit of the Forrest Gumps about it. Yes it was fast, but it did seem a bit lucky no defender was actually standing in his way.

I think often times when you consider wages, sign on fee etc, etc. This type of signing IS a lot cheaper than proven players.

I think he has a confidence issue mainly. He is skilful but doesn't make sufficient use of his control or pace. I think he actually hid from the ball behind opposition players on occasion.
