A while ago I mentioned my personal top ten all-time biggest and most successful football clubs (and got a not entirely positive response to it on here
).
I've just stumbled on this site http://www.clubworldrankings.com/100.htm which uses something called Oosterpark Rankings which is a points based system presumably based on trophies won.
Here is their worldwide all-time top ten football clubs:
1. Real Madrid (10,240 points)
2. Barcelona (7,936 points)
3. Bayern Munich (7,306 points)
4. AC Milan (6,688 points)
5. Juventus (6,223 points)
6. Liverpool (6,017 points)
7. Boca Juniors (5,944 points)
8. Manchester United (5,672 points)
9. Ajax (5,483 points)
10. Penarol (5,194 points)
There are other lists on there including only European teams (Liverpool are still 6th on it as the worldwide top 5 are all European clubs).
Other teams of note are Arsenal (25th), Chelsea (32nd), Spurs (43rd), Everton (62nd) and Aston Villa (63rd).
Does this list sound about right?
