Seems like a good guy to have in the squad - good laugh etc. One thing that bugs me me though - the guy is a complete liability as a defender.

At half time, I was thinking if I was the Hoff' manager I'd just keep attacking Moreno's side all night. They seemed to start to do that and it's a miracle his antics (losing the flight of the ball in our box for example) didn't lead to more goals for them. Klopp saying "he's like a new player - he's back!" is only trying to get Moreno confident - Klopp cannot seriously believe that himself.

I can't believe we cannot get a better player to play in that role, defensively and going forward. I don't know if that's the fault of the manager or the "transfer committee" (if one exists) - but it's not as if this has become a problem overnight. I'd prefer to stick Milner back in there.

He's awful, he is always going to be awful and he will always be awful. The "Alberto Moreno is 100 percent back," comment by Klopp after Moreno having a few decent pre season games are the types of comments that worry me immensely as I think Klopp rates him.

For the love of god just buy a LB and finally nail this position down once and for all. I can't remember the last time we had a good LB.

We did buy a LB, but the guy we bought is not a proven player at this stage of his career, and from what little I know of him he plays in a similarish manner to Moreno as in better at chasing forward than defending.

Souness said last night that he is identical to Moreno, loves to get forward but can't defend for ****

Souness had a similar opinion on the player as I do? Damn it, now I know for sure I am a **** judge of a player.

He's awful in defence but I actually think he's quite exciting going forward, love it when he maraudes down the left wing. He seems a likeable guy, just not the brightest.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

I just hope Robertson will break in to the first team very soon. Moreno is simply not good enough, even if he in patches shows some talent going forward. But he just gives away to many good opportunities for me to ever want him as our starter in that position.

The system that Klopp favours requires an attacking fullback. He wasn't so bad the other night. Was caught out for the first goal, but was solid for the rest of the game. Name me a fullback of this kind who can defend well consistently in this style of play.
                      Are we winning?

His system doesn't require a headless chicken going forward. Yes, the position and style of play requires someone that can attack, but more importantly it requires someone that can do it intelligently and at the right times. Something Moreno simply can't. For example against Hoffenheim, leading to the penalty later, he is caught all of a sudden rushing against the opposition in pressing on their half with no chance of getting the ball. Even pressing the GK leaving a huge gap behind that Gnabry got in.

Against Watford he was caught out several times leading to chances and even a goal. He is simply not aware enough to play an attacking back position.

To be perfectly honest, being a back in a system like we're playing requires far more of your defensive awareness and abilities than a system we're you only rarely get further up than the middle line. I think it's a false argument to make Moreno look better than he is. Only the best backs in the world can be attacking because they also have the necessary defensive capabilities.

But to answer your question, and I'm not that knowledgeable about players these days - from my head:

                        Guerreiro from Dortmund
                        Marcelo
                        Alba
                        Alaba
                        Rose
                        Azpilicuta (spelling??)
Evra even, although I hate saying it his name...
                        Luis or something from Atletico

And likely a whole lot more that I can't think of right now. I know it can be difficult finding someone complete, but it's hardly hard to find someone better than Moreno. Milner were a lot better last season and he was a re-scholed midfielder...

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The problem is again with the combination of the player and the system not working together well enough. For all the stick he gets Moreno is a decent player, the problem is he is very attack minded and has little defensive awareness, if there were someone such as a DM who could fill in behind him when he gets caught out of position that would be fine, if we aren't going to have that DM then we can't play with such attacking fullbacks IMO, or we accept that we are going to ship bucket loads of goals.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

When he just about kept the ball in but still managed to get a cross in, Firmino I think it was should have been getting across the near post, it was the only feasible place a cross could come in.

He could improve on his delivery no doubt, but he is a threat in what is an otherwise bland team behind the strikers.

Also, I think people are just too quick to jump on him, Trent had a very good game but cost us a goal and his general delivery on the night was pretty poor. He had a good enough game, Lovren was calamitous with Wijnaldum and Henderson being very poor for me.

Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
