I notice the likes of Mattshark and danperkins, who slated him a lot in the early days calling him "average", "a wimp", "not good enough for a top four team", "doesn't have the right mentality" etc, are a bit quiet

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Delighted with this. Easily our hardest working player, if not throughout the whole league. I know some said Lovren would get it, but that wouldn't have been right, just because of the short time he's been at the club.

Great news indeed, He's worked hard and really proved himself. Fair play to Rodgers he's shown a lot of faith in him.

I was watching the Press conference yesterday and I was impressed with Lovren's attitude whilst being questioned. Early days I know but another potential captain in the making ?

Gerrard also delivered a ringing endorsement of Rodgers’ decision to appoint Jordan Henderson as the Reds’ new vice-captain.

The long-serving midfielder expects Henderson to go on and take the armband from him when he finally calls time on his glittering career.

He said: “It’s very well deserved. It’s no surprise to me.

“I’m sure he will be the main man and club captain in a few years when I’ve gone.

“He epitomises everything a captain is – he works hard, both on and off the pitch, he’s well liked in the dressing room, he leads by example and let’s not forget, he’s a top player as well.”
