Villa are decent in the middle of the park and fast on the break, hardworking wingers and 3 proper CM's with a strong lad like Balotelli holding it up for the pace out wide. Coutinho has been poor so far, needs to earn his place with a decent shift coming off the bench, Lallana needs to be eased in I think.

I think that's worth a go too and Lallana off the bench makes more sense.

If Hendo is out, maybe Lallana behind Balo and Sterling though. Swap Hendo for Allen is possible.

hendo is possibly our most important player right now - in that i dont think that we have a replacement that can bring his energy into the middle of the park. Perhaps Can or Lallana can in time, but they aren't up to speed with the way we play yet.....

Against Villa, i think Gerrard, Allen, Lallana in the middle would be fine (assuming Hendo is injured). I would be tempted to go with Coutinho, Sterling and Balotelli then up front - again integrating Markovic into the side when we are comfortably two goals to the good...

even if Sturridge and Henderson were both out though, we are still likely to have a bench containing Can, Markovic, Lambert and Borini....... much better than last year.....

sterling and lallana will add pressing in the midfield, they can go wide or inside and will support the strikers by following in for the second ball.
can will add some balance to help hold the midfield ground.

but im sure brendan will prefer allen.

Emre Can played well for Germ U21s the other day as well...... could be a good inclusion if Henderson is out in that he is likely to bring energy to the team.....
