I have to be honest, I thought Everton were **** there, and that's a good part of the way to us looking better today. Overall it's a small improvement but at least it's heading in the right direction.

Encouraging how quickly Lallana has found his momentum and Sterling continues to grow in stature. Once we can get Balotelli pulling his weight and get him playing the ball instead of shooting, our attack will improve.

I feel for Markovic. He's keen to get things right, but he's scared to do anything wrong. He needs a year to get used to the hustle and bustle and the pace of the Premier League, but he certainly has enough ability to offer us something.

We needed a set piece to score, and they needed the sort of strike that only comes off once in a hundred tries.

We looked lacking up front and in the centre today.

Roll on having a fully fit Sturridge back, and after that roll on the January window.

Better, but we are so impotent in front of goal.

At least we made chances this time. Still need to start getting shots on target and then goals. One step at a time, I guess.

          **** end to a **** month.

It was a great save to push it onto the bar, Mario made some poor decisions today but was unlucky with that - the finish about as good as you could expect I think.

Shouldnt have subbed Mario. If Sturridge was fit this would have been another Spurs away, badly need him back.
Agree with most of that. What's the thinking behind not subbing Mario off though?

I thought we were the better side and deserved to win, I thought we were unlucky not to. Where the hell did Jagielka pull that from? 99 time out 100 that goes flying into the stand.

I thought defensively we were much better today, but we looked toothless up front. Watching us this season I'm not convinced we will score a goal in games, were last season I knew we could score more or less from every attack. The team lacks cohesion and I don't think anyone knows how we want to play, I'm not sure if that is the new players, a change in style or what but we really need to sort it and quickly. We have signed some talented players but they haven't really shown it so far and the team looks a mess. We need Sturridge back asap to add some urgency to our play at the moment everything feels so pedestrian. Balotelli had a few chances and should have won the game for us.

Also I thought the referee let them off a few things, Barry should have been off in the first 10 mins and I am amazed that Baines was never booked

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Balo should have finished it about 5 times

Thought we'd played better. Moved the ball quickly at times...defence seemed a bit better, had plenty of chances.....should of won but it was a ****kng screamer so fair play....at least it was like that and not a **** up by someone.

Defo need Sturridge back to give us a bit more

That was just harsh. We played alright for a derby game, when Sturridge gets fit we'll be fine.

Really? It was the glaringly obvious replacement for me, still need an outlet and your suggestion would not have stopped us dropping deep or conceding a goal like that at all imo.

The way lady luck is going early season I expected a wonder goal of WBA proportions and that's what we got. But happy with the performance at last, even with Balotelli's apparent free role.

Lallana is finally ready to go, Coutinho looked good and we'll have Allen and Studge back soon. I expect a lot of points in October. If not then I'll start to panic.

Other than that aberration, they looked a lot better. Lallana was good in particular. Balo was infuriating at times, but he has that absolute craziness about him to try nuts ****, like Suarez did.

I dunno, its getting better, not too downhearted with that
Gutted that we conceded, so late, and to a Phil ****ing Jagielka wonderstrike; but there was lots to be upbeat about IMO

Lallana was ace, Balotelli was good too although it's frustrating when a midfielder is further forward than him. Coutinho in particular ran past him and seemed surprised that there was nobody to pass to. Needs to position himself like a centre forward more often for me

Nah. A midfielder or defender is only an extra body also. Nothing wrong with Lambert on, I suspect the thinking was that he's able to hold the ball up, and the further away from our goal the better. Although Mario was doing a good job of that himself so you may have a point
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

It wasn't dissimilar at the beginning of last season though, we struggled for goals until the patterns of play in the final third became well established. I'm not worried about that too much, and I think as we develop we'll have a better idea as to just how good we can expect some of our new players to be.

Agree about Sturridge though. He's crucial. The one forward we have who you just know will be making the right run for you to hit.

We have nobody to finish. We need a Pires / Lundberg attacking midfield to make up the goals.
